Big Truck No Exp, new career in Straight Trucks

I have Class A, no restriction, with no real experience. There is a place that charges $650 to teach you how to pass the driving test, sets up the test, and let’s you use the vehicle and trailer for the test. It all happens same day. I figured for less than $1,000 I had invested in myself, and...

In Persuit Of The PERFECT Van Bed Set Up

I have seen your van on my other thread. I really love the setup. I didn’t know if having a 3500 would put me over the 10,000lbs carrying 3,000lbs. I been reading a bunch of threads about beds on here, and the setups are amazing. I love the speed you can lift up your bed. It’s amazing how...

In Persuit Of The PERFECT Van Bed Set Up

I agree with the notion of a permanent bed being the ideal situation, but with a 144” requirement, and only 145.9” to work with, I don’t see permanent being possible. If you know a way, I’d gladly throw this frame in a trash can and build a permanent one. That said, I truly believe that this...

In Persuit Of The PERFECT Van Bed Set Up

Permanent or fold up? This one is both. :) You are 100% correct, a Full Sized Bed will only fit in sideways in a Promaster (75.6” wide). Transit is too narrow. And that is why you want a removable bed, use full potential of van space (Promaster 145.9” Load Floor Length).

In Persuit Of The PERFECT Van Bed Set Up

This Forum has helped me out immensely. So, in the spirit of giving, I wanted to contribute what I think is approaching the perfect Bed set up in a van. Qualifications for the “perfect” set up is to be as big and comfortable as possible, light as possible, versatile as possible, and removable...

Hey guys, newbie here and had some questions about Expediting.

Driving for a living is like a Oscar Wilde saying, “There are only 2 tragedies in life. Never getting what you want, and getting what you want.” I’ve driven alone, and it could get really lonely at times. I’ve driven as a team and I wished I was lonely at times. Prime is a decent company, and...

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

I see I’m gonna get a lot of crap for that, lol. A large portion of freight I take is 1 pallet. It’s often very well wrapped, so not worried about load falling over. Just for time I was planning on putting down a whatchamacallit and then strapping in the pallet pressuring it into the...

    newbie Expediting

Don’t take me the wrong way, not asking for specific information, just in a more generalized way, how? I’ve watched the Crafty Truckers for a few years, and they report what they make sometimes , and it’s not there. They’re a very dedicated team so I was just curious.

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

I didn’t know the appropriate name, so I probably mislead with my language. I would see the E Track and load bars, which I called stoppers, that would click into the E Track at most all truck stops, and many people use them, so I was surprised by your post. I completely agree with the...

Cargo Van Thinking about getting into Sprinter

I know this is a older thread, but I really want to get this out there. How many roller dogs can you eat? How many times can you eat Subway? How much is the headache worth in dealing with ELDs? When I moved from Sprinter to Flatbed, I immediately noticed that I was shackled to the truck stop...

Big Truck How long out before home time?

Reading this ongoing train wreck hits too close to home. Last guy I drove for, Sprinter Van, we made money, no real issues. So I agreed to drive truck and flatbed trailer. Suddenly, legal went out the window. I’m not talking about a DOT approved sleeper, I mean no logs, wanted me to run weigh...

Expediting YouTubers ? What’s your Opinion?

I love expedite YouTubers. At first I was just looking for information, but after a while you find people talking about stuff you understand, lol. I actually found this forum because of The Crafty Truckers. Love it all, even if I find the subject boring.

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

Federal Securement Regulations “Cargo must be firmly immobilized or secured on or within a vehicle by structures of adequate strength, dunnage (loose materials used to support and protect cargo) or dunnage bags (inflatable bags intended to fill space between articles of cargo or between cargo...

I can’t say I know any straight truck team drivers personally, but the research I’ve done, they wasn’t hitting $300k. That’s impressive numbers.

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

I want to thank everyone for the responses. All good advice. I never thought about a nail, etc. getting caught in the track. I’m not putting it on the floor, I’ll be putting on the lowest part of the walls. Initially, I just wanted a stopper, but the more I think about it, it wouldn’t save me...

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

My first time installing E Track into the floor of my van. A friend told me that his E Track was just a small bit above the wood floor, and it really helped sliding in and out loads. I fear this, over the long haul, will end up damaging the tracks to being unusable. Should the wood be above...

How much $ is needed for your 1st 3 weeks out

There’s a lot of variables to driving that one cannot predict. My shot in the dark number is $1,500 if the fuel card kicks in after the first week. Shot in the dark number, not a educated, informed number.

    Sprinter Van Dilemma. Help!

In expedite, if you want to make $, you are to be on the road months at a time. So, while it offends some on the forum, it’s more of a lifestyle than a job. Wake up in different cities, never really known where you’re going next, etc. You sound like a young person with a family, and you know...

    Sitting for days

Nope, not normal. Seeing that it’s the company truck, that’s who I’d take my grievances to. If they’re ok with you sitting that long, they’re beneath your effort, find a new company.

Cargo Van Taking the plunge soon, advice appreciated

Thank you for your reply. Yea, I hear of more people using the Promaster. I just want that extra width. I’m talking to Fusion. They, Fusion, have cargo insurance, but you have to have insurance between loads. I have a handle on what I want to do, I just am open ears to advice, because I don’t...
