    Flat Rate Pay Plan

Dave or another fleet owner, can you say how Panther handles this situation? Is the truck considered an Elite truck or is it just the driver? If you or anyone else as a fleet owner lose a driver in an Elite truck and cannot find another Elite qualified driver what is the process for the new...

    Hazmat routing

This is also a sore spot with us and one of the arguments that we have is in the winter routing us on I70 west of Denver and wanting us to go around the Eisenhower tunnel. I do not know what program is being used but I have heard it is a lot better then when the route used to be done by the...

    Question For Newbies, Wannabes, WishIcouldBeButCantBe

There has been a long list of people who participate in the forums that have really influenced us, some by asking questions and others by replying to the questions. Not all influence has been positive but with any advice you have to wade through what all has been said and pick out what best fits...

How much does a dispatcher have to Invest

I know that at many times our weekly income is more then the dispatchers monthly income. We have more risk on the line then they do but we choose to buy a truck and be out here instead of in a cubicle. If we get tired of the risk out here and the hassle we can always go back to a 9 to 5 job and...

    FECC New DIspatch System

This thread has turned into somewhat of a nightmare as so many have posted that do not have enough facts to make this a useful discussion. I have tried to move the thread to the FedEx Custom Critical forum but only moved the first page so that is why the first page is missing. I am hoping that...

    FECC New DIspatch System

This is not a business about being about being able to negotiate with a carrier. You sign a lease saying you will accept a certain percentage of what a load pays to FedEx Custom Critical. The speed and the brilliance of these load opportunities is that in a perfect setting the loads will be...

    FECC New DIspatch System

This is from the FedEx Custom Critical web site: We’ll be able to send a load opportunity to your phone with an automated voice message. (Details on page 3.) You will be able to accept or decline on the same phone message. The automated voice option will only be utilized when your C-Link is...

How Does it Feel to Buy Fuel?

We do not keep to much extra money on our fuel card as I would rather having that money in a interest bearing account. On our better paying loads we get all the advance we can and that takes care of our shorter loads. It really helps our peace of mind when we fuel to remember with our fsc what...

    For Freightchaser and John O..

Re: Stop Smoking Now!!! I was raised in a home where everyone smoked in the house, in cars, and in restaurants. So when I started smoking at 12 years of age I just fit in with the rest of the family. It did not take long to become very very addicted to cigarettes and they ruled my life for many...

    FedEx Mobile Drop Boxes

I had to laugh the first time I saw them on a FedEx delivery van. I think for those who park with the trucks in the truck stop will not have to worry to much. Now the ones that park out in the front of a truck stop or at other locals could come out and see a envelope taped to their truck since...

    Women in Trucking

Ellen This is great the back and forth talk on ideas. This was what I thought the original idea was for WIT so I am really pleased to see your comments asking for ideas. The below thoughts are just my opinions on what I have seen and done. I have to question why the trucks stops would want...

    Spring Cleaning

I have curtains I made in the windows of the truck and use the spring loaded curtain rods short ones that I found at Wal-Mart. I also use the spring loaded curtain rods in the freezer to help hold the food in place. When we are on a team run I will put the window shade on over the windows...

    Spring Cleaning

India you read my mind! I was thinking the same that it is time to do a spring cleaning, clean out all the cupboards and all of the little cubby holes I have something stuffed in, clean off the window sills, clean the curtain between the cab and the sleeper, wipe down all the walls, and also...

    Ten Wheeler

We have a Allison right now which is part of our problem and then also having a CAT engine does not help our fuel mileage. We have started specing our next truck and Bob is looking at a ten speed direct auto shift transmission. We are also watching what is happening with the Detroit Diesel...

    Ten Wheeler

Our tires took about 100,000 miles to wear in as we bought the deep lug instead of the standard tread. We would not buy the same tires again we would go with the standard super single tires. We average 10 mpg and with the way our truck is set up we are doing better then average.

    Ten Wheeler

It took awhile to get the tires wore in and we are back to a little above what we were when we first put them on. We have pretty much maxed out what we can get for fuel mileage on this truck with out either changing our rear ends or just getting a new truck. Anything more we add to the truck...

    Ten Wheeler

Ready to Chime in! We have run them over a year now and love the ride and the way they handle. They handle very well on ice and snow and you see them on the Flying J trucks in all of the northern areas. They are also wearing like iron and we are very pleased with that. The one thing we have...
