    Re: Going Broke

Greg I have heard of people doing exactly what you describe. Turn down a load over FCS when the load pays more than enough to pay for fuel. I find it much easier to update my cost to run per mile as fuel prices change than to break it out.

    Re: Going Broke

No the bottom line is what does the load pay and what are the miles. Fuel is included in my expenses for what we need per mile to run.

    Re: Going Broke

Thank you OVM as a fellow moderator for being so quick to throw my under the bus with out knowing any facts. I see that Joe was quick to follow suit and seemed to have forgotten that we are in a dry box. We were surface and had been on the WG list for years and when Molly passed away we were...

Max weight loaded on a "C" truck?

The truck needs to be weighed with personal and cargo related gear, full tanks and two drivers on a scale, that weight subtracted from GVWR will indicate the capacity. When he brings that scale ticket to orientation, they will use the capacity as his available weight in the computer unless he...

Max weight loaded on a "C" truck?

What is the truck registered to carry? A heavier load may be placed on a D, C, or B vehicle if they are registered to carry more weight. If your truck is legal to carry more weight you can call in and have this changed by your CC. It can help you to get loads at times. This is the...

    On the Road Recipes

I am a little slow learning the convection oven as I have such a habit of getting out my rice cooker! Someone gave me the tip of using parchment paper on the pan in the bottom to catch drippings if I use the grill which works very nice as I did grill a couple turkey breasts. (I found I could...

    On the Road Recipes

The Rice Cooker does MUCH more that cool rice. I have had the same Rice Cooker for 5 years and it gets drug out of the cabinet almost everyday to be used. I have cooked steamed rice in it maybe twice... Once with disastrous results to much rice and not enough water. I now know the meaning of...

    headset (bluetooth)

Has anyone tried the Bose Bluetooth Headset? I know of one truck driver using the headset for the past two months and he is still thrilled with it. He is able to use the head set in the truck while driving and also get out of the truck and not look like a total dork. I would like to use the...

Am I the only one getting Opp's at 3am?

We have the loads that come in the middle of thenight with an ASAP pickup pay really well. The office does not recognize time zones and offer loads first thing in the morning to trucks in California which is frustrating.

    neat mobile scanner

Each time I scan I have to change type to receipts. Is there a way to change this in the setting. I scan many more receipts than documents. I am still learning about the scanner.

    neat mobile scanner

I also purchased this at the first of the year. The tip on multi page scanning is a great one. I have started scanning all of our BOL's and some of them are several pages. I look forward to trying this hint. The scanner is super easy to use and I really like being able to scan in a PDF...

    pets on road

How many WG loads do you haul? As long as you are not WG now there are not that many loads you will not be able to do. It seems as if it is mostly the reefer loads that do not allow pets on their property. If you take the dog call your CC and have them add a note to your information. We...

    Air Tabs

We used the Air Tabs on our old truck for six years and they were one of the first things we added to our new truck. This is a really good article on why to use Air Tabs: An Expediter and his AirTabs

    Perfect Time

You are right Greg in many aspects. Drivers are able to stay in their trucks and call home, chat with family and friends on the computer and generally stay in touch with loved ones. The bigger sleepers also make it easier to cook in the truck, watch TV in the truck, and generally be very...

    Perfect Time

I do not think camaraderie is dead and Henry has written a blog about about this subject. Camaraderie has changed with the advent of cell phones. No longer do we walk into a truck stop starved for conversation. When it is need it is alive and well. We have had many instances where another...

    Perfect Time

Lawrence I believe that was before QC? I have heard HORROR stories of being caught standing in rain storms calling in to FCC to update your position. I have heard stories of sitting inside guarding a pay phone waiting on a call for a dispatch. I have heard of waitresses being paid to get the...

    Stepping Back

I am reading about the doom and gloom and I think wow everything is really really really bad.... We came through one of the worst economic times to happen in the trucking industry and we are still surviving. I step back away from the doom and gloom and look at my spreadsheets, our...
