Looks like she's not the only FL Republican that's going wobbly on deporting illegals. However, DeSantis and the voters are having none of it. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Considering the country's emphatic approval of these deportations, my money is on DeSantis.
There are some republicans that understand what is going to happen when you remove so many from the workforce. Especially here in Florida, our economy will grind to a halt without the illegals labor.

U.S. citizens are able to do those jobs. Eliminating cheap labor and replacing it with higher wages should be the goal. It can happen as long as their isn’t an illegal workforce being exploited.

After re-reading the above article it doesn't appear that either ICE or DeSantis are going after people with legitimate jobs and work visas. There are untold numbers of illegals that came into the country using the CBP One app or the CHNV program unvetted and with no plan to work; they just sponge off the Federal freebies provided by the govt and NGOs. These are the ones that should be deported.
There is no real "welfare" payments anymore, that disappeared a long time ago. and there are already work requirements to get food stamps, anyone who does not work has a medical reason for not working.
And you are correct for the disability programs, I know someone who had major back surgery and cant even stand for more than a few moments at a time and will probably get denied for help, and she is only a few years from retirement age anyway. Far too many people are collecting because of mental issues.
See there you go again with the belief that they come here to live off of the government, they come here to work, and they do work but there are plenty that get taken advantage of by employers who know they are illegal. If they have children that are born here, who are US citizens by the way, they are eligible for help, but the parents are not. Stop believing the lies they are telling on Fox news.
Your premise is wrong. American workers are currently working in harsh elements everyday. I see them delivering while walking in the cold, snow and ice daily.
