Well, all carriers are short on trucks if you have 1/3 of their fleet out of service everyday. This is part of the business, if you don't want your carrier to add alot of trucks stay in service more.

That's not really the issue, OOS is a management thing but retention within the fleet is not.

You can call people when they are out of service and a lot of the times they will do some work for you but you can't call them when they terminate the contract.

The signing bonus is another attempt on retention in more competitive market.

I don't see the proactive use of resources with CC as they could be. I mean with their fleet, their trucks and vans shouldn't have more than 10 hours dwell time during the week but I keep hearing some having 24 to 36 in a busy market. But then again CC isn't ... well the bread and butter group.

If they cut your percentage, I wonder if all their trucks get a grand for retention? Might pay to sign off and then sign on.

The contract was always 59.5% but they used to add 0.5% if you chose to have the big decals on the truck. That was dropped some time ago. The $1000 is for T/T team units.

If you are sitting 10th on a 4 a day board rather than having moved somewhere that you aren't numerically not getting a job for 2 days then thinking about a sign on bonus someone else got should be WAY down on your thoughts list.

That was my thought on the 10/4 item but I thought it was too obvious.
