Tri-State recruiter Phil Weiner says that this new sign-on bonus program for owner-operators with straight trucks and tractors will not only help in the contractor's transition to Tri-State from his current company, but will also benefit the prospective owner-operator in getting started in the business.

"We need equipment," Weiner says, "we're extremely busy and it promises to be a strong fourth quarter.  We're looking for dedicated owner-operators in those size units, and we're sure that they will find our incentive plan appealing."

The sign-on bonus breakdown is:

Team tractor - $3,000.00      Solo tractor - $1,500.00 Team straight truck - $1,000.00   Solo straight truck - $750.00

Tri-State will pay half of the bonus immediatly following orientation, with the remaining half to be paid after 120 days.

Vehicle requirements include:

1996 or newer straight trucks with sleeper and a 16-24 foot cargo box.

1995 or newer tractor with sleeper and tandems.  Weiner says that there is more flexibility regarding the model year on the tractors - it depends upon its mileage and condition of the unit.

Weiner stresses that Tri-State has an urgent need for hard-working owner-operators with those size units, and to that end, the company is offering a $500.00 bonus to current Tri-State contractors for referrals that result in a new straight truck or tractor owner-operator signing with the company.

According to Weiner, Tri-State is now recruiting cargo vans for the first time since February of this year.  He says, "We gauge our recruiting efforts by our business levels and that's why we could possibly be adding cargo vans through the end of the year."

The package Tri-State offers its independent contractors includes:

ComData CabCard Pay 65% of revenue on all runs O/O Referral Program Weekly settlement checks Paperless fuel taxes Total Owner/Operator System, no company owned equipment

Tri-State's driver requirements include:

23 years of age or older CDL with HAZMAT endorsement Acceptable driving record Canadian border crossing privileges For Tractor Trailers: Graduate from accredited Truck Driving School or one year of over-the-road tractor trailer experience
