Mr. William (Bill) McCloud, a Landstar Express America Independent Recruiting and Retention Agent has died.
Mr. McCloud succumbed to a massive coronary while at home with his family on Sunday, November 23rd. His passing was peaceful and without pain.
"Bill was an individual who brought class, integrity and professionalism into everything he has done," says Darin Mark, LEA Director of Recruiting. "The industry has lost a tremendous person and Landstar has suffered a real blow. We've lost a man who brought great ideas and excitement to our business and many people in expediting, including myself, have lost a good friend."
"Bill was a very spiritual man who loved his family, and when we met a few short months ago, our friendship just clicked. You couldn't help but like the man and I'll miss him very much."
Mr. McCloud is survived by his wife Alicia along with his two sons, Timothy and Bryan McCloud and two stepchildren, Tim and Kristen Muldoon.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1949, Mr. McCloud had attended DeSales University in Center Valley, PA where he earned a BA History. He completed his education at West Chester University in West Chester, PA.
Mr. McCloud had served as an expediting recruiter for many years, including a lengthy stint with Roberts Express/FedEx Custom Critical before joining Landstar Express America this past summer.
Jon Mosier of Freightliner of Knoxville says, "Bill McCloud was a very dear friend of mine - we played a lot of golf together and smoked a lot of cigars together."
"I worked for Bill when I was at FedEx Custom Critical (Roberts Express) in the early '90's. I moved to another company after three years, but Bill and I never lost contact. It was never just a boss/employee relationship, it was a friendship."
About Bill McCloud the man, Mosier says, "If you met Bill one time, you would never forget him. He was one of the most even-tempered men I've ever met in my life as well as being one of the worst golfers I've ever played with! I've spent the entire 18 holes of a game with him just laughing."
"He was a very positive man and he always helped me. I would call him with an issue that had me hollering and screaming and by the time the conversation was ended, he had me calmed down."
"Bill was a very spiritual man who was willing to share his feelings about his beliefs. He was very encouraging in regards to my own faith."
"I met Bill about five years ago, and I found him to be cordial and professional," says Dan Tilley of Alumi-Bunk of Knoxville. "I believe that one word sums up my business dealings with him and that is "integrity".
You could believe Bill and take him at his word."
Bill McCloud's faith and spirituality are recurring personal characteristics mentioned when talking with the people who knew him. In addition to his duties as husband, father and business professional, he also served as an elder with the Calvary Bible Church of Somers Point, NJ.
