Rand McNally, Skokie, Ill., has introduced the 2004 Large Scale Motor Carriers' Road Atlas featuring maps that are 32% larger than standard maps.
Each atlas has thousands of map and trucking updates, including new state designated truck routes, federally designated routes, information on low clearances, weigh stations, hazardous materials restrictions and many other features.

New software predicts on-road weather conditions
WeatherData Inc., the provider of weather risk management services and weather forecasting products, has introduced time and user-specific forecast and severe weather warning information for commercial applications.
Carriers can receive and transmit data for multiple vehicles using the "Vehicle-Centric" technology.
It uses detailed, real-time weather radar, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) mapping technology and a variety of other weather and hazard warning information. The data is not restricted to cities but also covers rural areas as well, stated a WeatherData release.
The technology includes Storm Hawk, the first mobile integrated navigation and weather forecasting system for land and marine use.
