Trio of Tulsa teens arrested in slaying of truck driver

Three 17-year-old suspects are in custody on charges of first-degree murder in the death a truck driver who was shot outside a Papa John’s in Tulsa on Saturday.

Jermaine Savory, Damian Anderson and Frankie Jackson, all of Tulsa, were apprehended Monday morning by Tulsa police.

The victim, 53-year-old Robert Horton of Arlington, TX, was shot and killed at 2802 E. 11th St. at around 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, while he was unloading food supplies at the restaurant. Authorities told Land Line his driving partner was inside the restaurant when the shooting occurred.

Investigators determined that a dark-colored SUV was used in the murder and put out a picture of the vehicle to the media and to the Police Department. At around 1:30 a.m. Monday patrol officers spotted the vehicle and initiated a stop.

The vehicle’s driver, an unidentified 15-year-old, was not arrested. Two of the suspects were passengers and had warrants outstanding for their arrests. After interviews, a third 17-year-old suspect was transported to detective division and interviewed.

According to reports from KTUL, Tulsa’s ABC-affiliate TV station, Horton was shot twice in the chest in what has been described as a botched robbery. Other broadcast news reports describe the victim as an Army veteran who had been married for 30 years and had two adult children.
