Mum is still the word on whether Pennsylvania will be allowed to convert I-80 into a toll road.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has confirmed directly to Land Line that his department is not yet ready to make an announcement.

“Not this week, no,” LaHood told Land Line following a public event in Kansas City, MO, where LaHood was promoting stimulus grants for transportation.

LaHood was in town to announce a $50 million grant to Kansas City for transit upgrades as part of the next phase of spending from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Following the formal event, the secretary took a moment to discuss matters like Toyota recalls and the unemployment rate before departing for his next whistle stop. See related story.
