Average on-highway price of diesel drops 1.1 cents a gallon

WASHINGTON — The average price of an on-highway gallon of diesel fell for the fourth consecutive week, according to information published Monday by the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.

The price was for week ending June 22 was $2.859, a decline of 1.1 cents from the previous week.

The price has now dropped 5.5 cents during the past four weeks.

The June 22 average was $1.06 lower than the corresponding week last year.

The regional averages were reflective of the small overall decline.

The largest decline occurred in the Gulf Coast states where the price dropped 2.2 cents.

Two regions showed an increase — the New England States were up 1.2 cents a gallon and the West Coast minus California was up six tenths of a penny.

California itself dropped 1.2 cents a gallon.
