To throw more confusion into the mix, why should trucks with different numbers of axles pay the same weekly charge?

Xiggi this is just a thought. Yes if something like this ever happened at a carrier it would have to be based on a truck size. I was using $20.00 as an example. Maybe Sprinters would be $12.00 a week, two axle D unit would be $16.00 a week, A three Axle d-unit would be $20.00, and a Tractor Trailer would be $24.00 a week.

These are just some things that I know I would kick around if offered.

I wonder what the big deal is.

I mean that tolls are accounted for in the cost of the load and don't expect the carrier to 'pay' for them but rather put it in the bottom line of the rate.

The savings I get from prepass is lessening my chance of getting pulled in for an inspection which means a possible problem with a citation or other issues and more costly in cleaning up the mess it causes.

So the 12 I spend is worth it because it is another tool to work with, as much as that qc is.

Greg you seem to think the same way I do. If my carrier offers this and I pay a small amount of $20.00 a week per truck, I'm signing up. I see it as something that will keep the truck moving rather than waiting in Scale or toll lines.

I am, that's why I don't understand the objections when the option is given to the owner by the carrier, it makes money in the long run by different things. Most only see the bottom line, the tangible but they miss the benefits to it that are intangible. Like the QC, that is part of the package for any carrier but it is used for a few things that may be more difficult to do if you didn't have it.

Yeah, a 20 minute scale line would have trucks backed up on the big road for miles and miles. Now a 20 minute wait in an Ag. inspection station in Florida I believe and PrePass won't help you out there.

Prepas would if your carrier didn't mind all the extra paperwork each quarter.
I found that if you have prepass w ag, each time you bypass you will have to send the state fo FL paperwork for what you have on the truck (in their FL format).
Ag add on is/was $3.00 a month.

PS: dont forget all the other state devices: N. carolina for example. or like here in SC the one for 385 and other toll roads.

I know this isn't the intent of this thread but bluntly, it sounds like something some of our well known carrier friends would do just like they do the QC and anything else they "provide" to the trucks.

It's just the egregious overcharging on the QC that makes anything else a carrier does suspicious.

And that is why it pizzes me off so bad when they send the msg. to tell them what city and state you are in because they don't have a clue. SERIOUSLY ? $35.00 dollars a week and you don't know our location?

Driving a cargo van, I paid about $420 in tolls in 2011. My company does not pay for tolls outright. I don't need prepass. A package deal might work depending on your actual expenses.

I have I-Pass, TxTag and 407ETR so as you can see I believe in non stop tolling. I would only pay for Prepass if I was leased to a carrier that had a good safety record. If they had a bad safety record there is no way I would spend money to possibly be red lighted more.
