What was your government's reaction to the Tea Party Movement, especially during the healthcare debate?? Did it seem to you that they heard any of that??

would not work here simply because we have elections every 2 to 4 years in which we change the parties in power; but the government never changes regardless of the party in power, our system ain't perfect, but it is still the best in the world. the numbers are split right down the middle, 20% hard core republicans, 20% hard core democrats, 30% do not give a crap, and 30% independents that swing each way.

1st a few things to consider...yes IF you could get MOST of the American citizen together to do it, we could take make our government...but while most Americans don't agree with how things are going, alot are content to give up a few of their rights and liberties so has to not make waze or to make sure that nothing in their lives in interupted.. just look right here in the post about "open carry" and see the responces to "why not just give the LEO your ID and info even if he has no right to ask for it....

Too many Americans don't care, they'd rather make sure they get to watch American Idol each week...they feel if they vote, they did their part...and don't even think about the welfare entitlement groups rising up....

So, yea IF everything fell in place, we could do it....will it happen, I don't see it happening in my lifetime...which is a shame..

We do hold elections every 2-4-6 years but we don't elect the bureaucrats. We don't elect the majority of the government people that are the ones that need to be replaced.

But multiply that by 1000. be pretty hard to ignore and discount a couple of million people sitting at your door step.

I think this is as good a place as any to post this info.

If you think the Tea Party is a viable group and feel that you need more info on what they are trying to do and how you might get involved, this may be of interest to you, if it isn't, then ignore it:

Tea party could be considered early rumblings. Let the dollar far to historic lows and people aren't getting that government check, you would see the same thing.

Jim,
What you have to ask is not if it would work here but how can we ever prevent it from happening here. There are really good points that we don't need to even consider this type of change because it may not bring what people think it would bring here. Over there it is a different form of government and what their 'democratic' changes they may have may be a step backward or a lateral step into another form of government that we may not approve of or even understand.

Egypt's government is a parlamentry system which no matter how one cuts it, is far from our form of government and to many actually is the lease form of "democracy". TO put what I mean in perspective from an American's point of view, imagine that we directly elect our congress and the president but after we seat the congress and the president, there are "issues" between the two and the president calls for a dissolving of congress - meaning the members are no longer members. This invokes a new election to elect a new congress and pretty much negates our vote and our choice of representation. The other side of the coin is a leadership problem, with any issue the congress could vote on a resolution of no confidence for the president and effectively making him a lame duck. (simplified to explain it)

I have confidence that the Egyptian people will prevail but without our help or influence. US, we are a different problem altogether.

The majority of the people didn't vote for him, the majority of the voters who voted did but ever so slightly.

you are right dave, its always about the economy.
although now it is starting to turn around, if anything happens to go back the other way, then anything could happen.
for the last 20 years or so, we'uns poor have been getting poorer, and us have-nots have less, and if we all could not afford to buy fuel, insurance, repairs, vehicles, etc. to do our business, then we all might be like the egyptians....

No, our Government did not hear or listen to "the people" when it came to Healthcare.

In a sense, our Government MUBARACKed the American people with their version of healthcare reform.

Think about it.............;)

I just got home and caught Glenn Beck on The O'Reilly Factor ..... according to Beck (who apparently considers himself some sort of modern-day Paul Revere) suggesting such a thing qualifies you as either a part of his grand Communist/Muslim Brotherhood/Islamist conspiracy (theory), or simply a dupe of them.

To O'Reilly's credit, his own take - along with a couple of his guests (Col. Ralph Peters, and former Defense Sec. Cohen) - on the situation was pretty reasonable, and seeing things as they are (and not as some sort apocalyptic, delusional fantasy)

What about it JJ - are ya in league with them Code Pinkers ? :D

BTW, Hannity just came on and is busy trying to sell his doom and gloom, and can't even get Stephen Hadley (who should be his ally) to agree, buy in, and join his little party ... rest of the show should be interesting .....

Be very careful in what you saying there .... that sounds like social justice talk .....

Apparently, for some (those who answered the "Am I my brother's keeper ?" question in the negative) that's a very, very bad thing ... just ask Glenn Beck, he'll tell ya ;)

Short answer:

No, not at this time - our nation's time is past. Perhaps, at some point in the future, whatever remains of our nation, may.

Long answer:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.
"

The Egyptian people are at the end of the beginning of the above cycle.

And we are at the beginning of the end of it.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - but that's what I am:

.... a bringer of uncomfortable truths .... ;)

Obama and his minions were condescending towards the Tea Party and complimentary to the uprising in Egypt.
