Worst roads in America?

when I started many moons ago...Michigan was MUCH worse then it is now...off and on ramps are a whole different ball game however...

I have to agree. Michigan roads are getting better. 3 or 4 years ago they were the worst hands down. West Texas roads are pretty bad..especially I-10.

Michigan may deserve a "most improved" award. Anyone remember what it was like on 75 between Taylor and the Matty Maroon bridge about 10 years ago?

Don't pat Michigan on the back just yet.

They have rebuilt a lot of roads in the past three years and even those have had completely rebuilt are failing.

Not to worry Greg, all these road problems are part of the grand plan to keep America working!!! It is all good for employment. More road crew jobs. More work for truck mechanics, more work for the parts suppliers. The only ones it hurts are the taxpayers, truck drivers and car owners.

I don't buy the road crew thing for a second but on the other hand it is a great thing for mechanics, parts companies and so on.

I just got this truck aligned back in September and now it has to go again, hit one weird spot in St Louis the other day and since then it has been all messed up.

BUT with that said, I don't think that they will be hiring road crews, the days of laborers helping to build roads is long gone and how the unions are entrenched and don't want any help, keeps things closed. Tied with how they schedule the work to keep money flowing makes a pretty sick picture.

Yeah, you are correct. I did, however, mean that post more as a joke than anything. There was a lot of truth behind the joke.

What about the loneliest road in America US Hwy 50 in Utah and Nevada I use to go across that with a big truck been almost 7 years or more since the last time I ran across that road has about 4 places with steep winding curves blacktop/gravel oh and be careful at night since its what they call open range (no fences) might find a horse, cattle or other animal on the road they use to give out T shirts that say you survived the loneliest road in America but I couldnt stop at the right places with my big truck will try some day to go across that road with the Sprinter

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I crossed HY 50 in a van about 5 years ago. It was not bad, all blacktop, no gravel. Speed Limit on rural roads in NV is 70. Good way to bypass STL if you are headed to Denver from northern CA. I got my T-shirt from a rock shop in downtown Austin. They had great prices on turquoise. Rings for $10. Jerry Lee

Haven't heard a word, stopped following it when they made a big to do about nothing for theopening of the replacement bridge. Can't get the governor to do much but make appearances to things that don't mean much.

You must have never driven in parts of Texas, California, LA, MO, or just about anywhere else. There are just as many bad roads in the south as up north. Just different problems. Up north they get potholes and roads breaking up. In LA, in the swamp region, the road flux up and down as water levels rise and fall. ETC ETC.

I have to agree with Ziggi, Donners pass is tore up from all the chaining up.Michigan side roads suck bigtime. But their highways have improved so much, actually, pretty nice, from what they used to be.Texas roads arent' so much full of holes, but just so darm wavy, feel like youre driving a boat.I dont think there is one level road in that state. They all will get worse, as states are running out of money to keep up with them.
