Wondering if this will work...new here

I have a van for work and 2-3 times a month drive from LA to the Bay area. Is it possible since I have extra room, to pick up some small loads to make some extra cash? and see if I like expediting.

I don't know the rules as far as DOT and if the shippers would care.

Any input would be helpful.

The large expediting companies pretty much want you to available for their shippers on a 24/7 basis. It might be possible to hook up with some of the smaller air courier or air freight companies and give them your schedule. You will need to have some type of commercial insurance or run under some other carriers authority and insurance.

You could also try to contact some shippers on your own and invest in a newspaper add in the business section of your local and bay area weeklies. You might get some E Bay work or people moving small amounts of personal items to relatives etc.

This might be a place where uship.com is actually of some value.

Thanks for the tips. You've given me some ideas. A few ebay type people have given me a few packages that are fragile in the past.

Their you go, congrats!!! Dont count on it being steady unless you make it steady, (dedication to building a base). Charge up the wazoo for these fragil items and SELL YOURSELF, I will take care of it as if I own it etc....

Your not gona build this up until you get the proper MC etc.. and begin paying what we all pay for INSURANCE for your freight and liability on a customers property.

Don't get stopped by a cop and let him see you have someone elses cargo in back or have an accident.
