Wiper Blades

In a current post on winter driving I stated that I use Bosch Micro Edge wiper blades. I replaced my Bosch blades this weekend with a pair from Rain-X. The Rain-X blades have the traditional 2 pivot points on the main frame but have 4 instead of 2 pivot points branching off the main frame. In theory this should apply equal pressure along the length of the wiper blade. I went with the Rain-X blades because of a coupon - buy one get one free. I will report back with results in the near future.

Last winter I used SilverStar headlights. I only got a couple of months of service from them before they both burned out. I found the white light they give off easier on my eyes. Reflective road lines and signage seemed to "pop". Visibility was better in snow and rain. I may give them another try. Pep Boys have a coupon for a pair of SilverStar bulbs.

Has anyone else used SilverStar bulbs? What were your results?

I've been thinking about trying the Silverstars and may switch to them when home again, if it's cooled down a little. I use the orange RainX fluid in the washers and like it best. I may try the blades when it's time for replacements. Keep us posted. Thanks.

I have ran the silver star bulbs in both my car and truck.I usually get about 2 years out of them.Make sure the plugs are good and clean if not then clean them and put some dielectric grease in them.

I put Silver Star headlights in my rig, but the low beams burned out in less than 3 months.

I then bought a pair of Hella H4 headlights and put in 80/100watt bulbs in place of the std. 55/65 they came with. Got plenty much light now, you bet!

I thought about the H4 80/100 option but don't think you can put those in a Sterling or similar truck. They'd be great to have but unless you have something like a Pete or KW I don't know how you'd use them.

I believe Rex is referring to the Hella kit that replaces standard sealed beam units. These Hella kits look like sealed beam units but the bulbs are replaceable. They are available in two or four light configurations.
