in the planing : getting to the expo early Thursday afternoon to mingle.
reality check : was held at the shipper for 15 1/2 hours, could hardly make it on time for the PJ walk. no detention either .

in the planing 2 : buying a set of Airtabs for the St. truck.
reality check : the drivers won another set only 2 hours later.

in the planing 3 : making it into the Espar of M.I free heater giveaway.
reality check : won, but was not attendance, so no win. was at the oil analysis class at the time.

in the planing 4 : attending the Casino night to win prizes .
reality check : didn't win nothing .

in the planing 5 : won (!) a Speedco gift card.
reality check: only to immediately hand it over to the Hino drivers to used . (freaking truck ownership).

I agree, this is something that needs to be addressed at future Expo's No need to penalize attendee's for going to expo workshop's

Everyone know the rules, there are many drawings you must be in attendance for and that fact is no secret. I was talking to Moose yesterday at the cookout about his luck and no one could have taken the fact they missed out on a great product better than he did. Maybe next year they can push the drawing back a half hour or something when the class would be over, I did feel sorry for Moose but I see nothing wrong with the rule. What were they supposed to do, go interrupt a class on the outside chance someone was in there before drawing another name?

Well maybe one solution is to have a list of those people attending the class to be handled by the organizer to see if a name is picked for a prize by the vendor.

It happens at other conventions and expos.

Not sure of the workshop schedule but schedule the drawings when the workshops are not being held, or do what Greg said, although taking attendance....Bueller Bueller Bueller takes time

I attended a few where you could not get seated until you signed in and at the beginning of the class or what ever you want to call it, they asked everyone to make sure they sign in. It takes a lot less time than you think.

People walk in and out of the classes all the time. Who is on the list at the start may not be the one in the class when a name is drawn. They does us a great service by limiting the biggest prize at the expo only to active forum members. The last thing we need to do is make it a hassle that would cause them to say the heck with it. Should they make a list of every forum member who steps into the restroom when the drawing is going to start

I was very sad when I pulled your name Moose and did not see you... I was sad when I pulled the second name and Sharon was also not standing there... Next year if someone cannot be there they need to let someone know where they will be.

I was really pleased to get your phone call that you were going to make it to the PJ walk. It is always nice to see you Moose and I guess the rest of were bigger winners and we were able to visit with you some.

Glad after all that hassle you attended and YEP I think you should get the hard luck award.

Get over it, i did.
the fact is, that i had no used for the heater.
i have an Easpar unit that came with the ThermoKing on one truck. and the DiamondPower electric heater will melt the windshields if left on high, in the other truck.
i am not a regifter, and don't think it's right to sell a winning item.
the heater was the most expensive one item prize to be offered at the expo, and Ray was showing a strong support of our online community by only allowing EO members to enter.
when i entered my name, Ray told me "i hope you win", my replay was "i hope i won't" !,
the competitive sportsman's in me was upset at first for simply loosing on a win, but that did not lasted longer then that Canadian drinkabilty...

maybe next year i will be allowed to enter my name twice, so we can call it a day, maybe by then i will have another truck...hoe knows.
BTW, hoe won that heater ?

You are a really good sport, Moose - if I'd spent 15 + hrs detained at the shipper, [without any pay!], I'd have probably sucked down the whole bottle of Mango Margaritas I brought to share. Because the freebies are not expected, but being detained that long [without any pay!] is an obscenity, IMO.
I'd say 'better luck next time', but really - how could it be otherwise?
I'm glad you made it, though - and I'm glad someone told me who you were, I'd have been watching for a really big guy, lol.

cheri, i bet you were suprised when you met moose. moose terrible luck, but a good sport as always. sounds like expo was great. wish tina and i could have made it but circumstances arose that prohibited it. with everything going on rite now it just wasnt in the cards. we will most certainly make it next year. hearing about it makes us miss being able to see you all. glad all had a great time.
