Gallup is a neat place, despite it being the most violent city in New Mexico. I-17 between Flagstaff and Phoenix is a neat drive, and it's pretty amazing how rapidly the landscape changes as you go from those mountains down into Phoenix.

Most nights, yeah. Fourth of July? Hard to say. Looking at the Dbacks Website, looks like there are a few left. Nosebleed seats for sure. Man are they expensive tickets out there. Field level $140.

And that massive 18 mile downgrade is a cool drive down too. How is Gallup the most violent city? It looked like 8 people lived there lol

Yeah DBacks seats look to range between $30 and $180 depending where you sit. I'm not sure where but I'll probably go middle of the road price wise

I have no idea. There are allegedly 20,000 people living there, but I dunno where they are. But they have a violent crime rate that's 5 times the national average. Something like 450 violent crimes (rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault) a year. It is in the middle of the Navajo Indian Reservation.

However, Gallup is a classic western town from when the West was still Wild. It's a trading post town that has more or less retained the trading post culture. You can't really see that from the truckstops, but if you can get there and go downtown you'll see it. A lot of movies from the 40s and 50s were filmed there, and all the actors stayed at the El Rancho Hotel, a hotel that was built and opened specifically for movie operations. John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, Tracy and Hepburn, they all stayed there. Autographed pictures all over the place. It has an adjacent building that's more modern, with more modern rooms. The rooms in the original hotel have pretty much the same amenities, luxury and comfort that they did when Gene Autry stayed there. :D

There is a Navajo Code Talker Museum, which isn't really a museum, it's just one wall in a meeting room at the Visitors Center. But it's free and it's amazing.

I saw the signs for the hotel you're talking about on the interstate. But as empty and hopeless as that land feels no wonder people commit crimes
