Why so many Ads for Expediters ?

I am just starting to do research on expediting and have noticed many companies looking for drivers. Can anyone fill me in on why this is? Too much turnover? Thanks

If you are looking for drivers , where else can you advertise ? , many adds. are free , the rests are fairly priced , and the media always on time (kissing some butts here...)

this is the nature of the beast , in Expedite service is everything , and if you have a ready truck where the freight might come out of - then you are the king . (regardless if that truck can stay profitable over time of not...)

welcome onbord , use the search option on top , to look up words of interest .
good luck .

Well, we are a $3 Billion industry. We need people and equipment. People come and go for every reason imaginable. Good, bad and indifferent.

Expediting is like trucking most likely. In truck driving school they will tell u that a class of 100 , in 2 years maybe one or two will still be driving, large turnover,,,almost 100 percent.

Whether it be truck load, LTL, expediting hotshotting there is turnover. Drivers leave one company for another for a few pennies or because they think they've been shafted, or because they are tired of this or that, or they just quit driving all together.

Another reason, tax deduction for the company.

When I go to the J's truckstop to use their internet cafe I was suprised to find out what the majority of truckers seemed to be doing on the internet. I would have expected it to be looking at porn. Nope, not even close. The majority of em seemed to be looking for other jobs.

We're supposed to be looking at porn? You mean I've been wasting time reading news, watching the olympics, catching up on music and other mundane stuff? Who'd a thought that?

There are many, many reasons for this. Some people get into this industry then discover that it's not for them. Some people are what I call "hoppers & shoppers"..they never seem to be happy and are always looking for that 'rainbow'. I'm sure that if you started to pay close attention to the WANT ADS in the newspapers, you'll find just as many ads looking for help in other industries. We, as expediters, are blessed to have a site like EO where we can advertise on...and for free! Not all industries are as fortunate. THANK-YOU Lawrence!!! :)

In a nut shell, truck drivers don't like to sit.Expedite is a hurry up and waite form of trucking. If your in a busy time, you'll make the kind of money you were told about, and won't be sitting much, but if its slow, the white line fever will have you job hunting

Can anyone give me any "Ballpark" numbers on appx. (net) income $ a straight truck husband/wife team could make ? I realize it varies, but what about a "range" that is realistic take home pay?

Lets see, how is $20,000 to $100,000!?!? good enough range!!?
do you plan on owning your own truck, or driving for a fleet owner? Are you looking to stay on the road from 3-6 months at a time or do you need to be home each month? do you have "home expenses" that also need to come out of your "gross pay" or does your is your net simply based on the expenses to run the truck and stay on the road!?!?

Those are just a few questiones that need to be answered before anyone can give you any kind of realistic income figures, be they Net or even Gross.....

Oh by the way, have you done a "business plan"??? Do you have an idea of what you need to make to be profitable???

this industry is not for everyone! me an my husban are used to doing 4000 to 5000 miles week and drope dowen to 3000. We love it!!!! But we are lazy truck drivers and would rather work half as hard and get paid twice as much. Were weird that way.
