if water coming out exhaust, should smell antifreeze, look for white resedue at tail pipe
sounds like cracked head or blown head gasket though.I had smae problem, was cracked head.9 k to fix, sold truck
are these temp guns sold locallyif you have a temperature gun, just point it at the radiator. That will tell you if that is the problem. I would follow with a pressure test on the cooling system. As for oil testing, forget speedco. Had this problem with a bad injector and oil smelled like diesel. Two different tests at different speedco's said oil was fine. Sent a sample to a lab and it confirmed our suspicions.
Speedco oil analysis are worthless based on our results.

you can get a new 335 cat motor from yancey in atlanta for 9000 plus install9 grand to fix the head? I'm getting my head tested, just in case, and I called parts to check pricing, and it's 2200 for the part. I was already paying the labor for the head gasket. For 9 grand, on this truck, I can pretty much get a complete in frame overhaul done (and more).
What truck did you have for that?
Anyway, they got back to me. It's the gasket, maybe the head, as I said, I'm getting that tested just in case.
I will update further as I know more.

Idk if you’re still on here but yes when I start it, puff of white smoke then no more smoke the rest of the day. Losing quite a bit of coolant. None on the ground. Any ideas? You said it is not in your oil, did you have it sampled?? it takes alot of water/coolant to change dirty diesel oil. I would have it sampled ASAP!! If it is not on the ground and not in the oil the only other places it could be is the cab (leaking heater core or lines for it) or going out of the exhaust. Do you get a puff of white smoke when you fire it up?? or when driving it. You said 2 gallons low all the time, how often is that? every day, every 100 miles, or 500 miles.
Mine just got a water pump it was weeping only after sitting a couple of hours off. I would check the pump when I stopped for fuel or at a customer and the darn thing was dry If I let it sit for about 6-8 hours there would be a small puddle on the ground and I was topping off 8-10oz every morning. I had my oil pulled as I have a gear drive pump and wanted to make sure it was not leaking into the engine oil, it was not thankfully.
I am sure others will give you some advice as to what it could be.
