Like many expediters, I am often asked, "Is this a good time to get into expediting?" Every time I get to thinking the safe answer is no, I run into or hear from a or team who recently got into the business, say they are making money and seem to be happy -- if not outright thrilled -- with their decision. All of them have been in fleet owner trucks.
In the midst of this recession, I do believe the safe answer is, no, this is not a good time to get into expediting. But people are still getting in and at least some of those are doing OK.
If you or someone you know got into expediting in the last year (solo or team), I'd love to hear your story, either here or by private reply. I am asking because I will be at the Expedite Expo later this month and expect to be asked many times, "Is this a good time to get into expediting?" Hearing from succeeding newbies will help me answer that question well.
If you are new in the business and are succeeding, I am especially interested to hear what you are doing why you think it is working.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
