Serious question here. What racist sermons?

There are the infamous sermons by Wright including a sermon saying the government may be responsible for the spread of AIDS in the black community. There was another by Pfleger saying Clinton was crying because she felt entitled to the nomination because she is white. There are many examples out there not to mention the fact that the church itself says it is a black church so they are excluding other races. The following I just copied from the churches website www.tucc.org from the about us section.

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

It might be easier if you would just Google it yourself. If you are unfamiliar with google let me know, I'll walk you through it.

Know what would be easier? Place a link in your text so that you can go to the site they may be referencing. Because you know when you "google" Rev. Jeremiah Wright, you get 1,490,000 results. Makes it easier.

If you or anyone else needs help on how to use the link option or how to insert video or even images, I'd be more than happy to walk you through it.

I had a response to, "Can you link to the examples that you have given?", but I decided not to post it because it was a little on the snotty side and I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. I see that based on the above snotty response, I should have just gone ahead and posted it. So here goes.

Yes, I can link to the examples that were given, but I don't have the energy (not feeling very well today) nor the inclination to do your research to gather up links and present them to you on a silver platter, due to your historical propensity for being confrontational, and therefore would be very likely to dismiss anything I linked as being not really racist for some inane reason or another, simply to be confrontational. Do your own research, reach your own conclusions.

To paraphrase Luke, and with great apologies to same, "Ignoramus, educate thyself!"

I do like one thing he's said, though: "Fighting for peace is like raping for virginity." There's one to make you think.
I have seen this before, only worded slightly different. I didn't know it was attributed to the Most Reverend Jeremiah Wright. I'm not a Jeremiah Wright fan, but I've got to admit that's a great line!

The first time I saw that 'line' it was grafffiti in a 'cattle car' I was riding in during basic training. We were on our way out to the rifle ranges to shoot. That was in June of 1970. Ft. Lenard Wood, MO.

It's a little off, though. You can fight to restore peace. Virginity can't be restored.

That is NOT how it read on the wall of that cattle car. There is NO WAY possible for me to post the 'exact' wording on that wall. Proper use of imagination will reveal the proper wording on that wall..

Anyone who pleads ignorance to this sort of common knowledge should refrain from getting involved in these political discussions. Maybe reading a newspaper every now and then might help - even USA Today. Go online to the Wall St Journal site, the NY Times, Washington Post or the Washington Examiner, or the local newspaper of your choice. Also, there are classes at most public libraries on basic computer usage that teach how to narrow a Google search. Of course there's always the chance that an individual realizes their position is indefensible or their opinion is just flat-out wrong and they can't bring themselves to admit it; then they start asking for links and sources to substantiate things like the law of gravity, because a Google search yields too many results.

Oh turtle you rascally devil you. Nice unwarranted, thinly veiled personal attack.

I find it interesting that 90%(maybe more, just a guess) of the soapbox forum members rail against the Main Stream Media, but go running to it when it fits their agenda. It's quite humorous actually.

I asked the question to link these examples because, I have done my homework, and I do think for myself, and I have come to conlclusions on my own. I'm not regurgitating what the Main Stream Media and what the Right Wing pundits are, and were saying about Rev. Wright. Above all, I'm not the one who accused the President as being a racist, others have, and if you are going to throw that fireball out there, the onus is on you and other's that claim that he is a racist or his Ex-Pastor is a racist, or the Trinity United Church of Christ is a racist church, to prove it, not me.

Actually, it wasn't all that thin. More like ultra transparent. :D As for proving racism, that's not gonna happen. People can show something that they think proves someone is racist, but it doesn't necessarily prove it at all. You have to just do the research and reach your own conclusions on that score. What I may think is racist, someone else may see it differently.

I think Wright is exceedingly racist, because of a certain philosophy he and some of his church members apparently subscribe to. I think Obama is racist, but not really any more than the rest of us. I don't think he has a racist agenda, in other words. Otherwise we'd have seen it quite clearly by now, and we haven't really seen any evidence of it.

Hence the "rascally devil" portion of my response, it was sarcasm. On a serious note, I do not make disparaging or personal attacks towards you, so I would appreciate it if you would refrain from using them against me. Try to set a good example as a moderator.

You or anyone else claiming racism may or may not be able to prove racism, but at least put the evidence out there and share why you think it is racism. Hence my asking to link these examples to the forum so that we can see where you or anyone else is coming from.

Exactly. Unless you show these examples we have no idea where or how you or anyone else is coming to the conclusion of racism.

I agree, except for the labelling of them being racist. Bigots maybe, but racists?
