I am going to apologize for this right up front, so there I am sorry.

I said that we forgotten what 9/11 was all about, that holds true and Phil proved my point.

Many ask a legitimate question Like Phil’s but what irks me is what does New Orleans have to do with the problem we have with terrorism?

Yes, homeland security is a mess, it is a mess for a number of reasons but anyone with some sort of knowledge knows the blame for 9/11 lies with and only with the terrorist but New Orleans did not have the problem of dropping the ball by the administration or any of the intelligence agencies. It was a problem of localized government corruption and dismal intelligence within the city/parish and state leadership.

I felt sorry for the folks down in N.O., many I think still deserve better then what they got but with the homes for musicians, the jazz parks, the lack of accountability (remember the people in the nursing home, how they died a horrible death which not one person has been tried and convicted for killing them and the busses all sitting under water), oh and lets not forget the lack of real reform in the city/parish government, who’s fault is it now? We can’t say a thing to criticize N.O. but we must point the finger at the president for something out of his control especially today.

As a sidebar, the bridge in Minnesota is in my eyes the responsibility of the state and the governor of the state, no one else. It seems to me that this is a perfect example of pointing fingers and no one has yet said “It happened during my administration, so I am stepping down†or “I am responsible for the tragedyâ€, have they?

But I digress

I am so tired of hearing there is a comparison made and it is really something that many don’t get when I say we forgotten about 9/11.

There is no comparison, period.

I will be frank about this; we now have a divided country, no way around that, we used to have a focus of what we were fighting for, but not today. Listening to the radio today, I was just tired of hearing how the latest Iraq report was a lie – coming from the media. Coming from people we were supposed to depend on to help us defend our country. I see a representative, an elected official in a country that supports killing US troops saying that all we are fighting for is based on a lie.

Where is the unity?

Where is the real support for the troops?

Why did we forget 9/11?

9/11 was not about one attack; it was about all of them. It was about uniting as a country and eliminating all threats, not just one. As frustrating as it has been since, many just don’t get the connections between the attacks after 9/11 on our soil and the Middle East problems. Many don’t understand the more indecisive we are, the stronger they get in their mind and the more they will attempt to attack our country and kill us. It is not just about Bin laden, it is about strength, it is about stability, it is about leverage in the eyes of the people in the Middle East. I know most of you will disagree with me, but come here to Dearborn, ask Iraqis what they think about the freedoms and sacrifice. Many of them understand what 9/11 is about and what the war being fought is about.

Too many people ask why we don’t do this or that to capture Bin Laden without the putting actual thought into what it takes to search for someone in the back yard of an ally. Many don’t have a clue where the country is let alone the sub-cultures what exist there. Many don’t understand the need to keep a stable country over the ram shot invasion to capture one person.

Even some candidates have taken on the position that we need to invade Pakistan without knowing how much damage this would do to us and what it would mean to the rest of the world. Sorry but that is not the real answer at all. Everyone should know that a little over a tenth of our banking is done through Pakistan because we are stupid enough to allow off shore processing. One tenth does not sound like a lot but when there is so much independency within the communications and the processing network of our financial world, there is a chance to really bring us to our knees and literally stopping the country. Could it happen? Yes, it is not hard to figure out how it all works when you know the facts. Not to speak of the manufacturing that goes on, what a great opportunity for terrorist because we lost our focus on preventing terrorism. Where is the inspection of the incoming cargo?

I ask again where is the unity?

Where is the need to protect our country?

We are so concern with gitmo and the people there that we forget that these people want to kill us. They want to kill you, your spouse and children and don’t care about who gets in their way they will kill them too. We are so concern with our government spying on foreign nationals who are not citizens that we tie the very hands who want to protect our country but can’t. Remember that 9/11 was the result of the need to divide up the actual intelligence and prevent it being shared between all agencies – their hands were tied then and still tied today.

I have heard so much about Iraq, Iraq is not the problem – the citizens of this country are the problem, we have forgotten 9/11, we forgotten our past and how to be a coherent country in the world of adversity.

Stop your complaining and start thinking.

Stop pointing fingers and take on the responsibility to help your country - Read my signature line.

If you don’t believe we forgotten, look around – prove to me that we haven’t forgotten.

Nice post, Greg.

Sadly enough, America is more concerned who will be the next American Idol.

Be safe.

Hi- it's been awhile...I had just got up and went into the store at the TA in Whitestown,IN. for my coffee & shower. As I poured the coffee the replay was showing on the TV and about 20 men were looking up at it. Later in the day, I was playing cards with a driver up in Benton Harbor, and we obviously were talking about the impact of it all.
About a week later I was near NYC in Jersey, and could still see the cloud, smoke hanging over the city. Last year I finally delivered quite close to ground zero, and walked over to look down at the huge vacant spot!

You are so right! The answer to that question about Saddam is OIL! period. Afghanistan doesn't have it, but is important for a jumping off point to go after natural gas reserves in the Caspian Sea area. Funny how neither place is secure either? Guess old Rummy bit off more than he could chew!

I WAS AT OUR FARM SHOOTING GEESE OVER ONE OF OUR PONDS.THREE FIGHTER JETS FLEW OVER WHICH I THOUGHT WAS STRANGE SINCE THEY USUALLY ONLY FLY THAT AREA ON THE WEEKENDS. WHEN I GOT DONE A NUN FROM THE CHURCH NEXT TO OUR FARM TOLD ME WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK. MYSELF AND SISTER BETTY HAD A FEW BEERS AND WONDERED WHERE THIS IS ALL GONNA TAKE US. WELL AS YOU ALL KNOW IT BROUGHT TOGETHER A COUNTRY AND SHORTLY AFTERWARD IT DIVIDED US SO GREATLY. PERHAPS WE NEED ANOTHER ATTACK SO POLITICIANS AND OTHERS CAN GET IT POUNDED INTO THERE HEAD THAT THERE IS AN EXTREME GROUP OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT WANTS TO KILL US ALL.

I was in Manhattan the morning of 9/11 finishing up my 6 day-a-week regional NYC-Boston-NYC run. Fortunately, I was up by the GWB and I was getting coffee and a bagel at a little store when I could hear all ##### breaking loose. 5 minutes later we had CNN on when it showed what was happening. I knew to immediately head across the bridge back to my home in North Jersey. I was so shocked and more mad than I had ever been in my 40 year-old life. I worried about friends of mine working at the WTC and their families. I would have re-upped that day if I could have! The only comfort in the following weeks came in looking at the Empire State Building. Rudy had it lit up Red/White and Blue, and after commerce started to continue, and as I approached the city every nigt, (and waited at the crossings), it stood there like a "giant middle finger" saying, "You will not beat us!" I had such anger not seeing the towers, and such PRIDE and joy looking at the Empire State Building.

As Greg said, the blame game was maddening. NO ONE..EVER..COULD BE PREPARED FOR SOMETHING OF THAT MAGNITUDE. Yes, we got a little complacent before, but fortunately, (and unfortunately) we have a free society, with little terrorism inside the borders, and people that would ##### and sue, if we had restrictions that may have prevented it, which made something like that possible. It's NOT an episode of CSI or 24, where everything works perfect and everything is solved or prevented in an hour or a day!

As for Osama. Have you ever been to a dangerous war zone in another country? I have. I can't stand any politician. It doesn't matter what party, to me they are all self serving and are in it for themselves. With that said, try finding ONE PERSON, IN ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ISOLATED REGIONS IN THE WORLD, where people are either insanely devoted to him ..OR scared of torturous death from betrayal, and that person is extremely well-funded. So if he is still alive and thats not electronic trickery, I can see how it can happen.
