I am going to apologize for this right up front, so there I am sorry.
I said that we forgotten what 9/11 was all about, that holds true and Phil proved my point.
Many ask a legitimate question Like Phil’s but what irks me is what does New Orleans have to do with the problem we have with terrorism?
Yes, homeland security is a mess, it is a mess for a number of reasons but anyone with some sort of knowledge knows the blame for 9/11 lies with and only with the terrorist but New Orleans did not have the problem of dropping the ball by the administration or any of the intelligence agencies. It was a problem of localized government corruption and dismal intelligence within the city/parish and state leadership.
I felt sorry for the folks down in N.O., many I think still deserve better then what they got but with the homes for musicians, the jazz parks, the lack of accountability (remember the people in the nursing home, how they died a horrible death which not one person has been tried and convicted for killing them and the busses all sitting under water), oh and lets not forget the lack of real reform in the city/parish government, who’s fault is it now? We can’t say a thing to criticize N.O. but we must point the finger at the president for something out of his control especially today.
As a sidebar, the bridge in Minnesota is in my eyes the responsibility of the state and the governor of the state, no one else. It seems to me that this is a perfect example of pointing fingers and no one has yet said “It happened during my administration, so I am stepping down†or “I am responsible for the tragedyâ€, have they?
But I digress
I am so tired of hearing there is a comparison made and it is really something that many don’t get when I say we forgotten about 9/11.
There is no comparison, period.
I will be frank about this; we now have a divided country, no way around that, we used to have a focus of what we were fighting for, but not today. Listening to the radio today, I was just tired of hearing how the latest Iraq report was a lie – coming from the media. Coming from people we were supposed to depend on to help us defend our country. I see a representative, an elected official in a country that supports killing US troops saying that all we are fighting for is based on a lie.
Where is the unity?
Where is the real support for the troops?
Why did we forget 9/11?
9/11 was not about one attack; it was about all of them. It was about uniting as a country and eliminating all threats, not just one. As frustrating as it has been since, many just don’t get the connections between the attacks after 9/11 on our soil and the Middle East problems. Many don’t understand the more indecisive we are, the stronger they get in their mind and the more they will attempt to attack our country and kill us. It is not just about Bin laden, it is about strength, it is about stability, it is about leverage in the eyes of the people in the Middle East. I know most of you will disagree with me, but come here to Dearborn, ask Iraqis what they think about the freedoms and sacrifice. Many of them understand what 9/11 is about and what the war being fought is about.
Too many people ask why we don’t do this or that to capture Bin Laden without the putting actual thought into what it takes to search for someone in the back yard of an ally. Many don’t have a clue where the country is let alone the sub-cultures what exist there. Many don’t understand the need to keep a stable country over the ram shot invasion to capture one person.
Even some candidates have taken on the position that we need to invade Pakistan without knowing how much damage this would do to us and what it would mean to the rest of the world. Sorry but that is not the real answer at all. Everyone should know that a little over a tenth of our banking is done through Pakistan because we are stupid enough to allow off shore processing. One tenth does not sound like a lot but when there is so much independency within the communications and the processing network of our financial world, there is a chance to really bring us to our knees and literally stopping the country. Could it happen? Yes, it is not hard to figure out how it all works when you know the facts. Not to speak of the manufacturing that goes on, what a great opportunity for terrorist because we lost our focus on preventing terrorism. Where is the inspection of the incoming cargo?
I ask again where is the unity?
Where is the need to protect our country?
We are so concern with gitmo and the people there that we forget that these people want to kill us. They want to kill you, your spouse and children and don’t care about who gets in their way they will kill them too. We are so concern with our government spying on foreign nationals who are not citizens that we tie the very hands who want to protect our country but can’t. Remember that 9/11 was the result of the need to divide up the actual intelligence and prevent it being shared between all agencies – their hands were tied then and still tied today.
I have heard so much about Iraq, Iraq is not the problem – the citizens of this country are the problem, we have forgotten 9/11, we forgotten our past and how to be a coherent country in the world of adversity.
Stop your complaining and start thinking.
Stop pointing fingers and take on the responsibility to help your country - Read my signature line.
If you don’t believe we forgotten, look around – prove to me that we haven’t forgotten.
