For you Les Paul fans, Waukesha, WI has named a street for its's famous son. Les Paul Parkway runs from the east side around to the south end of town.

Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa and many others are all great guitar players. But when it comes to sheer raw emotion and the channeling of one's very soul through a guitar Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan are hard to beat. Buddy Guy comes close.

Moot,
I completely agree with you. Les Paul, Chet Atkins, and other great guitar players in their style of playing stand in a league of their own. Its like comparing the Boston symphony orchestra to the Beatles. They both are great in what they do, and sound great togeather, but each has it's own style of presenting music.

SRV, Eric Clapton, BB King, Buddy guy, will more impress the person who can appreciate the feeling and emotions that a Blues artist sends out through his guitar or harp licks. Bonnie Raitt is one of the best at putting the songs feelings into her slide guitar fills and solos.

Others will prefer an artist that can make there feet move and their heads blow off just with a guitar solo.

There are as many different styles as there are people to enjoy them.
So we all are happy !!!!

Did you know that Joe Walsh actually showed Peter Frampton how to use that talk box after peter asked "How'd you do that?" on "Rocky mountain way"? Then pete went of and made a zillion bucks. :7 Just caught Jeff Beck on "IDOL" Man...another awesome player! Oh, good call on Eric Johnson there MR. Jensen! That whole "Ah Via Musicom" album was excellent!

I gotta say for my money that the best guitar solo of all time is the second break on Comfortably Numb.I saw some poll in the paper a couple weeks ago and Van Halen's "Eruption" was voted number one. That tune is nothing more than some scales with a lot of effects added...it's played well but still only scales. I would have to include "Riviera Paradise", an instumental piece from Stevie Ray Vaughn's last album, In Step. What an awesome talent he was. I can't forget Little Wing either..Jimi or Stevie's version are both just titilating.
