Allow me to introduce myself by asking a question right out of the gate.
I have been driving class 8 trucks for three years now. I do love it, but I am interested in knowing the difference between "big truck" driving and expediting. Are the laws that I have to deal with the same for expeditors? If you don't own your own truck what can you expect to find when hunting a expeditor position. I have looked at the ads for drivers wanted, but they seem to be what I would call a lease position, is that correct or am I not reading things correctly?
1. I was an O/O in 1979, loved it, but gave into family pressures to go to school and do all of those adult "things".
2. Leased for a year after retiring from my past career. Made money, but not enough for the time expended. I was out for six weeks and home for three days. Resigned when I had to fight the big C.
3. I am currently a company driver for a small company in MO. I love the small family attitude in this company. The only thing I don't like about this job is that none of the dispatchers have any idea what a log book is or even what it looks like. x( If I could give a log book lesson or two to the dispatchers, I think this would be my "perfect" company.
There is my introduction and questions.
