I was thinking FedExCC because they are large and should have the freight, but I am a newb so my thinking could be wrong.
Would FedExCC be a decent company for a solo? If not could you list your opinions for the top 3-4 (from best to worst) carriers for a solo?â€
My answer - YES FedEx CC would be a good company for a solo BUT I would say talk to them to see if they are taking on D units, the last I heard (Friday) they have too many but that could have changes. They are by far the largest company out there (I think correct me if I am wrong) and have great advantages being part of a large company. I can’t list out any companies because I was with two, Express-1 and FedEx CC - Express-1 is also good by the way (Scott is honest about the facts), but check other companies, many will do you well. (If you are confused when you talk to the companies, go to truck stops and talk to people there, you may get the answers and have a chance to talk freely – maybe buy a lunch for a couple of them – meaning more honest answers.)

Do you think this is a realistic or achievable goal if I learn quick, work hard and work smart?â€
My Answer – Yes, it is realistic and achievable but you need to watch everything, food entertainment and even clothes. The problem is that it actually depends on YOU and YOUR habits. I would also highly recommend that you have a reserve, a couple thousand at minimal to get you moving, it can be done with less but…. Also it is all about attitude, the better you think things will go, they will.
As for other comments, look it is simple – everyone has slow times, everyone sits, everyone deadheads and everyone thinks that it could be better – just remember be patient, listen to people who you meet on the road, ignore idiots and be careful out there.
