What is the strangest load that you did as an expediter?

About a year ago I took a $75,000 diamond ring from Atlanta to Memphis. Paid very good. I had to wait about an hour in the parking lot for them to arrange payment before I could deliver. It was a young guy that I delivered it to. Just hope she said yes, since that is a lot of money there.

Thats an easy one for me. I took a full load of Empty toilet paper rolls to a company. As a side note they were some of the first scented ones in the butt wipe industry. My truck smelled like lilac for over a week. Guess it was a better smell than used toilet brushes.

I don't know what it was.

Backed up to the dock. . . went in to see shipping manager.

There was an envelope on his desk that said "White Glove".

I asked if that went with the shipment, he said that was the shipment.

I put it in my underwear drawer and drove it 1200 miles.

I guess it was a "White Underwear" load.

I've taken some kewl, and strange, stuff, but the strangest was a shoe box containing a pair of golf shoes that I picked up from an apartment building in Chicago, and took it to Augusta National Golf Course. Dood left home without them and he needed them for a 8AM tee time.

Delivered 3 small packages to the White House in a 24' straight truck. Constant driver survielence required. Was met at the back gate by White House security, they inspected the truck, in and out, pulled just inside the gate and waited, a pick up truck met me there and transfered the load.
They requested a straight truck over a van because the back doors could be locked and sealed.
Great load, paid over $3.00 per mile...............Charlestown S.C. to D.C.

Took a Load of Rubber Floor Mats (4) mats on One Skid from Nashville to South of Ft.Myers to Ford Motors which was located along a Dirt Road Way back in the Woods. Was met by Security at the gate where they escorted me way back into the Woods to a small Building which was also surrounded by Armed Guards. The Security Guards wouldn't let me out of the Truck But Instead took the Keys to the Padlock, Broke the Seal and Off loaded it into the building. Then was excorted back to the Entrance where they brought me out My paper Work!! Now How Wierd is that??

Here's my list.

Stormwater to a lab for testing.

A computer chip in an envelope.

The entire back of the van stuffed floor to ceiling and all the way to the back door with bags of styrofoam packing peanuts.

1 can of paint 900 miles to Boston.

The most adorable Rottweiler puppy you have ever seen. Sat in the passenger seat and stared out the window the whole way and went back into the cage right before the delivery.

A very adorable kitten that was not very happy about being in a cage in my sleeper.

Hmm.. we took some kind of fancy instrument used by a marine biologist from Boston to just north of Los Angeles. The biologist flew out to California to meet us for the delivery. The crate the instrument was in had tip and shock meters on it, and the truck box doors were sealed.

We took 2 airline seats from an airport hanger in Atlanta, GA to an airport hanger in VA.

We took a bunch of wallpaper from somewhere in PA to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines office in Miami, FL.

The worst load was 3 pallets of some kind of parts that went from a factory in Missouri to this tiny little town in the middle of nowhere in PA, which was in a valley between 2 mountains. The little town had a bunch of one way streets all going the wrong way, it was dark and snowy and it took us forever to figure out how to get to our delivery point, which was a tiny little plant that didn't know the load was coming. They didn't have a dock to unload at and they had to find a fork lift to get the pallets off the truck. It took almost 3 hours from the time we got to the delivery point to get unloaded.

Oh what fun times. lol

A pair of pregnant Pygmy Boa constrictors...

and a check for get this..$265 million..from Toronto bank to the manager of a Duesche Bank in Totawa NJ....it took 3 hours at Lewiston...the DHS had to determine it's value...DOH...decision was...tada....since it was not endorsed yet it had no value...just a piece of paper...of course they had to pass it around the office and drool....

Someone in production suggested that they send a manager out to the loacl hardware store to pick up some wood screws...but alas, the union rep said "that's NOT in your job detail, if you leave the premisis you will be written up" and that ended that discussion. lol
