I have a Powerhouse 3100 that I would like to mount on the front end of the van to run my Coleman Cub roof A/C. I need to know if there is any way too fabricate this platform too the frame with out removing the factory bumper. If this is even possible. Also, do I need to do any upgrades too my frontend suspension so as not to have excessive tire wear problems due to alignment? It is a 2500, 2012 Chevy Van. Another option I have tried to investigate is using a 2500W power inverter, a 229 amp Alternator (if this is possible to install) to run this 9200 btu A/C. Then, would I need an extra battery? Any info will be appreciated, Something that works that is!!!!

I gotta ask this stupid question=Why on God's green earth would you want to run the van engine to power a rooftop????? What advantage would you have? I can't even believe I am wasting time asking these questions..
As far as mounting it on the front, the generator, there is a front frame mount receiver hitch available and you can go to harbor freight for a
hitch basket. An aluminum one will work just fine, as it supports my 3200 watt generator just fine.
Generator weighs 57# and hitch, frame and box weigh about 50#. Some people claim a front hitch is available for GM vans, but I never could find one. Only found them for Fords. I had mine custom built at a local fab shop for $130. Bought the box separately and had the frame built to fit. Custom frame was $80.
For side to side and up and down movement I drilled two 5/16holes in the receiver. One on top and one on the passenger side. I tapped and threaded a couple of 3/8 bolts in those holes, tightened them to remove all slake and slop and locked them with jam nuts.

I had it custom built to fit my generator. Has removable panels on 3 sides for airflow, even with the top closed and locked. Cost me $275 complete. Then built the support frame separately.
The place that built it builds and stocks the same box for the Honda 2000. I just had them alter the outside dimensions to fit my Honeywell 2000.

I know that was not the most intelligent reasoning. I am planning to use my generator, I was just wondering if the other mode was even possible? A whole lot lighter! But yes it would defeat the purpose of saving fuel, but if the van's AC went out I would have a wonderful spare I could run if the emergency arose. Anyway thanks for the platform suggestion, will definitely check it out.
