Hello, I am very new to this..and I am very serious about this. I would like to know what it is that I need to get a o\o to let me drive for them. I have a very clean record on everything, and I am dependable. I would like to drive a van and I will move back to Michigan where my family is. What questions do I need to ask? How long does it take to get driving? I have many questions if anyone is willing to give me the time. Thank you, Lenna

There are lots of owners looking for drivers.Just visit the EO classifieds on this site.

You can also call any of the expediting companys that advertise here. They allways know of owners looking for drivers.

One thing to do is to contact various carriers you'd be interested in and talk to the recruiters. Most of them (maybe all) keep a list of qualified people to refer to the owners. If your record is as you say I'm sure they'd like to have you on the list. Ask all your questions in the newbies forum and you'll get lots of answers. Good luck.

LDB is right about the lists. You can also get yourself put on those lists so folks can find you as well.

Let me just say this to you. I have operated a few trucks over the last couple of years and have been very let down by drivers. My trucks are straight trucks but that really makes no difference. They are mine and I had hoped that drivers would respect the fact that I provided them with good clean equipment and good pay. How wrong I was. They had zero respect for me, my equipment and took advantage of the pay. I treated them very well and they crapped on me and trashed my equipment. It was so bad after seven drivers I parked the equipment and I got back in a truck myself. Thats how bad folks are.

Now I tell you this so you know that is wrong to do to an owner and his or her equipment. You are looking for someone to give you a ride. When and if they do be thankful for that and no matter what happens treat the equipment like it is your own. The seven I had ruined it for many asfar as I am concerned.

I have been studying EO for about two weeks now and you all are very helpful and nice to reply to my questions. I have been on the classifieds and have seen what is there, but I do not know for sure what to look for, how much pay I need to be looking out for, and how would I know if I am getting into a person that is a bad o/o? I will also call the companys to get on the list, I have already gave my info to PantherII. My record is as I say, and I would treat an o/o's van with respect and take care of it. I would be driving it and would treat it as my own, and besides I like a clean area.
