What if you could write to the past?

The reason I ask this is because there is a country music song that came out recently where the singer ,I think Brad Pasley, talks about if he coud write a letter to himself at age 17. If you could do that what would you tell yourself? I know alot of people say if I only knew then what I know now.

Well me personally I woud tell myself to go straight to college out of the service. Get that out of the way and then if I still wanted to do something else do it after I had the degree. I would tell myself to steer clear of that owner who cheated me out of money, and put a bunch of money down on that horse Smarty Jones when he ran the Arkansas Derby a couple of years ago. I might try to send myself a few winning lotto numbers. I still would try to be married to the lady I am married to now. I don't think I could find one better than what I have. So what about you?

This is mainly something I wanted to put out there to kinda get your mind off of the same old same old stuff. Of course we can never write to ourselves at an earlier age, but you can always learn something from your elders. Whether they are your elder in age or experience in an certain feild.

Note to self....Start saving that 25.00 a month that you spent on non remembered junk that you ended up throwing away later....listen to parents advice...they actually knew something that you didn't...smile more...laugh more...work while your sons are little, stay home while they are teenagers...take this advice and apply it to your life today

Two chorus lines from a song by John Prine came to mind.

Simple, but if I had it to do again I would have lived a more "Spartan" existence.

Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

We blew up our TV threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their own

First off, I'd tell myself to meet my wife about 10 years before I did.

Then, I'd give myself countless stock tips and lotto numbers!!! :D

Romantic love can't be counted upon to last forever, but love for your children & family will.
Good looks don't last, but character does.
Possessions get broken, lost, or outlive their usefulness - better to collect friends instead.

Well I know there is a reason I'm here walking the face of this old Earth today. Don't know why, but I figure God does. It's not to often people land on their head from 15 feet and walk out of the hospital that day. I keep trying to tell myself there are plans for my life. People always say forget about the would have, should have, and could haves. I like to remember them because maybe my purpose is to let someone else learn from my mistakes. Like don't try to drown your sorrows in a bottle. When you sober up you just feel worse. At least I always did.

Amen!

I believe you have your answer.

Be an example for others.

Watch out carefully how you relate your past to others so that the sin does not take the forefront of your testimony. God deserves the preeminence for delivering you from a spinal cord injury or becoming drunken bum.

Habakkuk 2:15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also,…

Keep looking to the Bible for your answers in all matters of faith and practice. I like to think of it as my roadmap for life!
