If everyone would've stayed home, no ideas or cultures would get transferred between the people. Little would get invented; and what is wouldn't be used outside the borders of the inventor. Wars introduce immigration and trade, spur technology, and stop tyranny (or bolster it).

As much as I dislike evil, it is a necessary one, from time to time. Just beware the man trying to sell it upon the people, for he is likely to go WAY beyond what is considered civil, to get his war. Maybe even resorting to allowing an attack on his own people... or creating one himself.

We could still have traveled to other Countries and swapped idea's, trade etc without all the bloodshed ..... just a novel thought :)

I am not buying into the premise that most women are peaceful. Could be they are just as aggressive, only more subtle. How many men worldwide have lost their lives because of an argument with a woman or an argument over a woman or an argument instigated by a woman? Little Bo Peep exists only in fairy tales.

The article in the OP is a silly hypothetical piece based on a fantasy work by one of his Harvard colleagues - and ironically topped off with a picture of Hilary Clinton to boot! How quickly people have forgotten what she was like during her days in the Rose Law Firm and as First Lady while Slick Willie was in office.

All that aside, just take a look at some of the aboriginal tribes in Australia and South America if you'd like to see what people are like who have stayed at home. The idea of "world peace" and no war is totally unrealistic and against human nature.:p

Just don't let them protect schools

I presume you're referring to the discussion we had about murdered school children at Sandy Hook Elementary. There weren't any armed females or males at Sandy Hook to defend the children. As a consequence, 26 lives were lost. An armed female staff would certainly have helped in that situation.

What would the world be like today if everyone had stayed at home since day 1?
No conquering, no invasions ......
Well, for one, society would have been held back.
Economics is really a broader field than one would think. Its principles extend everywhere. One economic theory, capitalism, has as one of its principles that good money drives out bad; that through competition, inefficient producers are driven out of business in favor of efficient ones.
Similarly, though conquest can be seen as an evil, it's also true that inefficient societies are generally the ones driven from existence. When inefficient societies fail, better ones take their place, hence we have Western Civilization, which has given us concepts like individual rights, and has produced modern computers, machines that fly through the air, and space travel.
Had no conquest occurred, I doubt wondrous things like those would have ever been invented.

All it would've taken is one woman telling another that her butt looked big and it would have been on like donkey kong.

If women ruled you think it would be more peaceful---

Ahab and Jezebel. Ahab wasn't much good, but for real evil you have to look to Jezebel. She was something else.

Way back in the 1500s, consider Queen Elizabeth. She was no slouch when it came to taking property and so on from another nation, notably sending her men against Spanish interests.

In our modern era, if you want to do some digging you'll find women who take a back seat to nobody when it comes to making history "interesting". Golda Meier, Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher come to mind, I doubt that any of these women would be above raiding a neighbor's country if she thought it would benefit her own country.

Less wars? Peaceful planet?"

We would not be sitting here on the internet. England would still have trees and would would ALL still be squatting in front of caves in Africa getting eaten by tigers.

Mankind has to explore or perish. It is our nature.

There would be no reason to visit "other countries" there would be none.

Women tend to slow it down by making us do dishes and other stupid stuff. SHOOT, women have even been known to stop a hunker to make a man cut the grass!

Some really interesting .... ummm ... well ...., yes, very interesting.

So we have decided we needed to explore to expand our knowledge etc etc, but why IYO did first explorers need to conquer rather than a more diplomatic approach?

Oh and I have never made a man do the dishes ..... I always ask nicely :p
