Col thanks for twisting my words. I was saying that some customers probobly like the smaller outfit that takes care of business instead of the big ones that have them sit on hold for forever.I mean who likes sitting on hold for 30 minutes only to take another 15 to get to the person they need to speak with. Then you make a smart elick comment about me being forced fed stuff? That's bologna. You know you might have been a big bad full bird in the Army but this aint the Army. You don't have a right to make coments downgrading folks all the time. You read what you want to out of someone's post and make it out to be what you want it to be. Nowhere in that post did I say once that it wasn't good to be a small outfit. I said you should be up front and honest about the truth. You shouldn't act like you have all these trucks leased on if you don't. People define it in many ways. A family operation, a smaller company, a more personal company whatever. You are always on the defensive, and being rude as hell.

My col was just like you, and everybody hated him. You can drop the act. I was in military to, but that doesn't mean I have to treat peole like they are stupid. You are just used to people not being able to say anything back. I used to have respect for you because of your rank, but not anymore. All you ever reply to people with is negativity. How dumb they are, how they don't have a clue. Welcome to the civilian world buddy. People don't want to hear that mess out here.

I let my customers know up front that I am a one van operation and it has never been a problem. The main thing they like about dealing with me is that when they call they know exactly who they will be talking to, me. And when the van shows up to load the freight they know I will be driving it. I have become friends with these people and they trust me. Some people think that the only way to expedite is to lease on to a large carrier, some people think a smaller carrier is better and there are people like me that think being completely independent is the way to go. There is no right or wrong way, It is up to the person to decide which way is best for them. I believe in the end bttllc will do just fine running completely independent.

Thank you Fastrod. That's exactly what I've been trying to say.

Wow Ark, chill out, read your posts again. Seems like I read them wrong, or, you didn't articulate. In any event, apology accepted.

Goodness girl, lease that baby onto an expedite company. Tri-state, Panther, Express 1, Landstar, Fed Ex, Try Hours, Lee Summit bet any of them would take you on. Course it is really, really slow right now so don't know if they have any freezes on. I'd get that baby leased on somewhere right away. I would so love to have one of those. Can't talk my husband into it. We drive a straight truck T660 Kenworth stretched out with a 24 ft box. I think that van is the way to go though!

And one guy I talked to suggested the cube van is the ultimate expediting machine. Of course, he did mostly air freight.

All of us have our opinions. With the woes of the van drivers lately, my opinion is that the van is not the best choice.

I have to agree. Terry and Rene make vanning look pretty easy but I know some secrets about them. They are hard workers and they are SMART workers. Combine a hard/good work ethic (1st base) with being SMART (second base), having LOTS of experience at this (third base) and being a h/w o/o team and you have a home run. Home runs in vans are the exception not the rule. That's not to take anything away from anyone else, just to point out and concur that vanning is a tough way to go.
