Plenty of long ones out there. Been back to back RT, IN - CA for a month now, if, ya wanna work that hard. Yea, that don't wanna list is about standard these days. Just ask the Hawk, he'll tell ya.

Yeah... I do have a small list... most of NYC, hazmat (because my company doesn't haul it), Canada (company doesn't have authority for US customs, tho I have no probs doing them personally)

Week so far...

MI to IA - liftgate, handload/unload, blanket/strap
SD to VA - swapped in OH and deadheaded to MANHATTAN
NY to CA - liftgate, handload, blanket/strap, and GETTING PAID ENOUGH!!! (which we're currently on now)

I guess when money talks, the list walks. Eh, Col?

There is no place in this country I won't take a load to, provided the rate is enough. That's what it boils down to for me. If it's to a bad freight area where I might have to deadhead to get something else, I'm wanting more money or I'm not going there. I don't mind the east coast at all because it seems that every time I go there I have a load out quick. I'll do NYC no problem if the money's enough.

It really is that simple, isn't it? I wonder why that's such a hard concept for so many to grasp.

Well Just to let U all know on here I run Hard. I dont sit like alot of those, To give an example I met a Fed ford van driver in Memphis who was heading to Dallas. a week later I met the same driver in dallas at the J. He had only one load the one he had taken there. I bought him a meal over at the Jack in the box and we talked a spell. He told me he had been with the Kitty cat and Tri and now had been with the Fed for about a year. He told me he was going broke out here. I wished him the best and a load. Well the next morning he was gone. In any case he did tell me that he herd his company supposedly weeding out the unites that he was apart of.
Interesting concept dont U think. Now before any one Jumps that are van unites. I ran across a tractor trailer driver this weekend who was pulling a dry box for the Fed who had been in Road Island, I met him in Ct at the Walley world (Wall Mart) Any way He told me He had a joke of a load just recieved a load for a van and envlope going 400 miles west. I laughed and said you got to be kidding he said nope and its paying me 2 bucks a mile.
By the way there was a Ford Fed Van sitting in that parking lot at wally world. After the Tractor Trailer driver, left I went to see if the driver was the same as the one I had met in dallas and Memphis Nope he wasnt. I struck up a conversation and asked how long he been there he said 3 days and no offers.
If you tell the Truth U dont have to worrie about what U have said.
Dont make deals or promises U cant or wont keep they like a ghost will come back to haunt you.
I believe in one thing if my wheels arnt turning im not making money so Im on the phone to dispatch for my next load. if Im not doing anything then I dont belong out here so its time to go home. where I can relax enjoy my family and do nothing.
Have a safe one and I wish all you van drivers a load to where u want to go.

kevin, the concept is to work less and make more.If most of us wanted to run our butts off,we could all be like you and give up the expedite business, and go with a truck load carrier. We all see the ads everyday, advertising drivers making 60k per year,At 40 cpm thats 3000 miles a week for 50 weeks a year, not much home time in that.

Just so there isnt no confusion
I run for a percentage of the load. 36% not for cents per mile.
I dont pay the fuel or the tolls. I run. The most I have made in a week is 2800.00 bucks the least Ive made is 350.00 bucks. The last two weeks Ive made over 1500 bucks. I take my own taxes out 1099. I run strong and Legal. If the Boss puts a team in the truck I make less of a percentage 21% I Like running super Single. I make more. I like the long runs as they pay me more. 5000 to 7000 east coast to west coast. Then flip back. Usualy When I get them they double me up. Somtimes not somtimes I run alone then run back. Dont matter. I hate Doubling up as I get a lower percentage.
By the way your memory on names is not serving you well. I wonder if its in the water. ROFL:)

Call it right place right time, but since this thread was started, I've done nothing but decently long runs with next to no deadhead. That won't happen often, but it's nice when it happens. I left Chicago and went to Laredo. Then I had a pick up in Laredo just a few hours later for Kansas City. I dropped that one this morning and was parked for only five hours before I found two loads heading to Los Angeles, both expedites and both picking at the same shipper. Does this mean that next week my luck will run out and I'll end up sitting for five days?
