I did most of my research on expediting on EO. I learned much. It saved me from many mistakes.

I now get to pass on the mistakes I made to others hoping it helps.

EO ALWAYS helps us keep track of friends we have out here and often helps us set up times and places to meet and spend time with other members, which we really enjoy doing.

Oh and also it's a place for interested newbies to find and connect with fleet owners. Pretty happy I found this place as well. I got a great fleet owner out of it!

OK, besides the obvious stuff of learning about the business, a big thing I've found here is friends. Oh shut up. :p

It's true. In my other jobs, my group of friends tended to be those I worked with. Most of my varied work history entailed jobs of 5-10 years, so we watched each other kids grow up some, watched relationships start, fail, or grow into marriage. We hung out after work, visited each others' homes, sometimes went to the same church! That all changes when your job is being alone most of the time. I don't have 15-50 people around me all day, but I have still have people I 'work with' who I call my friends. Some I talk to often.. via phone, or online...but most of them I see once a year! .. and ya know what, not ONCE as a white collar, blue collar, or no collar worker in my past professions.. did I ever start conversations with... "Where y'at ?" :D

I do this gig over the winter so I am not a life devotee but it offers me a refresher course. I found out about eo when I reconnected with a friend I grew up with on facebook and found out they were involved with expediting. I also like to log on now and again and see what their stalker says after they post. They never let me down they got a snide remark in this thread too lol always the same member. I like the technical posts and the company information posts I find those really helpful. I hate the ad bar at the botton of the page though. Maddening.

The open forums has brought many expediters together to share their thought on this business. Without EO we all would be walking the parking lots looking to talk to other expediters. When EO came about the business at the Detroiter truck stop went down because we could chat in the open forums and not have to go into the truck stop to meet people. Because of Expediters Online we as Expediters have got to hear about other business's that offer there service to expediters. There is so many things that EO opened up for everyone.

I was very fortunate to find EO very early on while researching expediting. It has been an invaluable source of information for us and our foray into the expediting world.

We have had the pleasure of meeting several of the members here in person, and have made some great friends along the way. It's great to know you can call or message someone who really knows this business when we have questions or run into an unknown situation.

Looking forward to becoming more involved as we become more experienced. We've even had a few new (or potential) expediters get in contact with us to ask what it is like to actually turn your life upside down for a life on the road!

Thanks EO!

EO should give everyone inspiration. I love to read about CEO's and success stories in business. I am an avid believer in america's entrepreneurial spirit. I look at all of the success stories in this business and still see a lot of potential for newcomers.

Lets take Panther Exprdited Services, Inc for example - a company that was started in the beasment of Dan Sokoloski's house with 4 straight trucks and it is now the largest expedite company in North America. Look at Bolt Express - just opened it's doors in 2002 and is now a steadly growing company providing jobs for a lot of people. Look at Load One and how they do business and they are a very successful company. There are a lot of success stories out here and there will be a lot more to come.

Like I saie earlier "Lawrence" had an innovative idea and did not let the nay-sayers get in his way. I bet there were a lot of people who scoffed at him when he was in the parking lot of the Detroiter trying to promote his vision for EO. I only wish I could have been around to see it.

I am fascinated with business and the way business can change the lives of so many people. EO has done so much for so many people. I have found most of my job opportunities right here on EO. I have also learned a lot from many different members.

EO is like that guy "matther Lesco" the guy with all the question marks book of information offered for free. Reading the advice of others in the forum can help shorten the learning curve for newcomers and prevent others from getting themselves in the same situations of those of us who have learned the hard way. EO is the 5th website that I open up in the morning after I down my first cup of coffee and fire up the load boards...

Just cause u claim to b the biggest doesn't mean u r the best

No it doesn't, but it makes me wonder why one company starts at the same time Panther does and still to this day only runs 20 trucks but the other company is now a 250 million dollar a year company. It doesn't make them the best, but it shows you what can be done if you have the right financial backing and a long term vision for success. Just because a company is big doesn't mean everyone will be happy there - but Panther is set up to make money regardless of what their drivers do or think. They have built a very successful business model!

What does EO mean to me…

EO is the most frustrating thing in my life and a place I go to everyday and read.

Before we started Expediting EO was my source of knowledge and we poured over the posts and history. We attended our first Expedite Expo in 2004 with a list of questions we knew to ask from what all we had read.

We made an informed decision about our carrier and our truck due to what we had read and the questions we asked. We picked a carrier that fit us as well as our first truck dealer and we started into this business on the right foot.

I continued to read after we started so as not to make mistakes others were kind enough to share on EO. We also started forming a network of people that we relied on for specific information that we still rely on today.

I continue to use EO for information to keep our business growing and prospering. Members of EO seems to be the first to hear about a proposed rule change or the first to give specific data on how to make a rule work for us instead of against us.

We are in a business that had an overload of rules and regulations that can shut us down and through EO and the members I feel as if we are some of the best-informed drivers on the road.

Bottom line EO keeps us informed which keeps our business successful.

EO provides a great outlet to talk about what is going on in the Expedite industry. When folks talk about transportation, expedite rarely seems to have a seat at the table.

EO caused a down turn in business at the Detroiter???

LOL... All righty then...

I would have to say so. We all would meet at the Detroiter for coffee. The Detroiter was a Expediter hang out. It was nothing to see 20 to 30 van out front in the car parking lot and about 30 to 50 C, D and E units from many different carrier at the Detroiter everyday. So, I would have to say yes it has.

My wife always asks me that when she calls. Dispatch never does. They already know...

This is a great place to hang out and learn a few things and hopefully help others learn a few things as well.

As Dreamer mentioned, it's de rigeur now to hear "Where ya at?" when answering the phone - and it's funny, but I usually have to stop & think before I can answer, lol. 'KC?....no, that was yesterday.... wait, I know - Nashville!' :D
