The proof will be in the pudding, I thought it was a pretty good speach but no one has ever accused Obama of being a poor orator and given his track record of what he says in his speeches and what he practices (any politician for that matter) I remain skeptical, hopeful but skeptical. This is politics as usual and it wouldn't be any different if the party in power was reversed. Things get done when the President is of one party and Congress another e.g. Reagan/O'neil, Clinton/Gingrich.
I was encouraged on the promise of eliminating capital gains taxes on small business and lowering taxes on business in general, a little late but better late than never. I was very surprised when he talked about nuclear power, off-shore drilling and clean coal initiatives, a comprehensive energy plan across the board is a smart way to go in my opinion. I have to tell ya though, I hate seeing all those douchebags slappin' each other on the backs as if they're doing the American people a favor. I remain optimistic and skeptical at this point, we will see.
