Were's the freight?

I am a solo D truck driver and was running pretty fair up until this week. I sat in the Detroit since last Saturday without a single decent load offer. I'm at home now wondering how much longer I should wait.

I asked if Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland etc. would be a better area but dispatch said freight was extra slow this week all over - but had no answer as to why it was so slow, other than tell me that I just need to sit tight.

We haul all kind of freight not just automotive. I am signed on with a pretty big carrier that, as far as I know has over 400 trucks (they advertises on this site), and I'm wondering if it's just me and my bad luck or is it the time of year or what?

Are other drivers experiencing longer layovers than usual this week?

Here we go again, already. One bad week is six months, and we're whin'in. I'm wondering by your post, if, you didn't get a single offer, or, a single offer You considered decent?? If you did get offers, please share with us your perception of "decent".

Dispatch said things were very slow but I stayed fairly busy on those crappy loads all you other guys turned down.

I only turned one run down and that was on Tues. because of all the dwell I had. I got a much better run later that day. I never got another run offer the whole week. I would have taken pretty much anything Wed, Thurs or Fri.

I had a total of 6 load offers this past week - the one I accepted going from Romulus Mich to Pottstown Pa was cancelled 2 minutes after I accepted it.

Aside from that one, Troy Mich to Lapeer Mich, 69 miles - $110.00 - 62 miles dead head was the best offer all week.

The worst was Sharonville, Ohio to Cincinatti, Ohio 9 miles - $50.00 - 230 miles dead head

I usually was getting runs from Mi or Oh to Sc then dead head to Tn or Al back to Mi, or Oh about 1300 to 1500 miles a week, not counting dead head, I think thats decent - do you?

For a change, instead of you whin'in about "whin'in", how about if you suprise everyone and simply answer my question - was it slower than normal for you this past week?

I first replied to the other thread, I wonder if it should be deleted.

so here is my reply;

Really dumb question; What company do you work for?

I would have turned this one down -
The worst was Sharonville, Ohio to Cincinatti, Ohio 9 miles - $50.00 - 230 miles dead head

I look at it this way, it was a 239 mile run for $50

SO to answer your question, Yes it has been very very slow for me.
