I know, but wasn't in position to do that at this time.... Sometimes things happen that are out of your control, for me this was one of those times.

FYI.. I was just thinking a few weeks ago about whether to buy new or just put out 13 to 15 grand on new motor and transmission now this happened... Well, new motor in future for me and save for a rainy day in other ways.

I understand.....crap happens.....as you might know I went the new engine route....they wanted 13,900...I talked them down to 11,900....that is factory rebuilt 100,000 mile warranty...done in a day........Berry Dodge in Corsicana Tx will drop ship at that price....

Thanks for the info, now I have the ballpark figure for the cash I'll need over the next 6 months....You know it comes down to do I want to spend 40 or 50K and payments for new or do I want to invest now 16K total and have a vehicle with no payments..

My bill out the door was 16K.... 180,000 miles ago....and NOT been back in the shop since!!!

That bill I also replaced anything original....all NEW hoses that didn't come with new engine
Replaced the rad
Replaced all water lines and tranny lines
Replaced starter.....

Was quoted 20 Hrs labour at $100 = $2,000.....

Holly moly 6 weeks huh? I'll thank god every day from now on for a paycheck every Friday!!!!

It must be nice tho, once it rolls in, it should be a lump some.

Touching down here in Memphis in about 40 miles. Then hopefully a good sleep, although I would not turn down a load right outta here

It just that initial hump to get past. When you roll on the regular, your checks come on the regular.

A Mack run? Make sure to visit Yocco's for some chili dogs!

Sure was, I've been there so many times and never eaten at Yocco's. I definitely will, next time.

Relocated (without asking for it) to Binghamton, NY yesterday morning. No idea why. Still here.

Well I'm back to the drivers seat again waiting on offers that I feel are insults , I've been doing shows most of the month and have some money to spare but I don't like sitting as much as I don't like giving away my time for low paying loads, I see why people here are *****ing ,too many low offers and listing to the pimps telling me that someone else will do that job for way less, so I just say #}*{^{^~*^|^ to them!

Too bad they require cdl for cargo vans...same as FedEx

Very true!

GrassHopper, did you see Murray's earlier post, about getting over the initial time lag in the first payment and after that things run pretty regularly!
Sally and Murray run under the same business philosophy I run in our small family trucking business (Blue Jay Delivery Service). So if you can handle waiting on the money, they'd be a great carrier to run for when you're already outbound and looking to get back to Chicago or its vicinity.

My one mentor in the business is selling his company and I'm seriously considering looking into purchasing the business. BUT I'd definitely need partners to help run it! I worked for this guy as both a owner/operator and company employee, and back to owner/operator before going back into my present job in criminal justice. My only concern would be giving up a good steady paycheck and insurance! But if I can do this like this mentor friend did, I can have my cake and eat it too! And the business is set up just like Murray and I discussed in a PM.

To be clear, we don't run multi-carrier trucks.
BUT, we will discuss (in private)our goals and see if they meet up with your goals.
Isn't that what this is all about?
Locating a carrier that cares enough to continuously TRY to help meet your goals and be flexible enough to have a decent shot at doing so
