Well, at least he's not just sorry, but rather, deeply sorry. That's important.
It's the difference in being just a wiener, and pure baloney.

Another liberal Dumb-O-Crat, in the fine tradition of "Uncle Teddy" and "Slick Willy" LIED about sending lewd photos of himself. If you are proud enough to do it in the first place, why lie about it?

He, won't resign, no kidding. What a putz.

In that article it states that he was once listed as New Yorks most eligible bachelors. What woman in her right mind would want to marry a PIG like that? Don't say much for a lot of women out there now does it? MMMM could swine attract swine?

Just ANOTHER politician who cannot be trusted in any way, shape or form. Willing to lie? Open to blackmail. Let's hope he never has to handle any classified stuff.

OH, he did get "all choked up" I guess that makes it all right.

If they had a child, surely they wouldn't name him Oscar Meyer Weiner! That was bad. He would be hounded out of office if he were a Republican. It was bad enough to send the pictures, but they lying, well.......

I wonder if any newspapers have the stones to run the headline "Weiner Admits Short Comings". Notice he appears to be wiping away a tear in the interview but there is nothing there.

No doubt there will be dictionaries which will add this guy's picture next to the word "scumbag". Not only is he the most arrogant jerk in the entire House, he is also totally lacking in decency and integrity to go along with being an internet sex pervert. Wonder what else will bubble up from the virtual sewers this guy inhabits? The most telling factor about this whole mess is that his fellow Democrats don't seem to be too bothered by it. After all, what else would one expect - he's a politician.

Why can't we call a scumbag a scumbag without pointing out which political party he represents? Because both parties have scumbags - neither has a monopoly on the good guys or the bad, so wouldn't it be smarter to attack the action rather than the affiliation?
I hope he gets recalled, or impeached, or maybe just tarred and feathered - yeah, that would work.

Well, of course, the Democrats are largely amateurs compared to Conservative Republicans when it comes to sex scandals. Democrats have quite a laundry list, to be sure, but it's really small potatoes when you compare it to the Republicans. A lot of the stuff Democrats do, as bad as it is, in many cases pales in comparison to some of the stunts pulled off by Republicans, in no small part because the GOP is the self-proclaimed Morality Party of the country, and then they get caught it just reeks of hypocrisy, especially when they want the embarrasser to just resign and be quiet, out of sight, out of mind. Go away.

Our nation, spurred on by the morally outraged Republicans, spent more tax money conducting Ken Starr's investigation of President Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky, than we spent on the investigation of the 911 attacks on the United States. I guess it's important to spend the big bucks on the stuff that really matter, huh.

Taking a picture of your underwear-covered junk and then sending it to someone on the Internet is just horrible, lacking in decency and all morality. No-body does that, ever! OMG, what a scumbag. But how does that compare to the ever-popular Bob Barr, Republican Congressman from Georgia who sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act, saying "The flames of hedonism, the flames of narcissism, the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundation of our society, the family unit." Hedonism, indeed. He was married three times, and paid for his second wife's abortion (she also suspected he was cheating on her). He failed to pay child support to the children of his first two wives, and while married to his third wife he was photographed licking whipped cream off of strippers at his inaugural party. Licking whipped cream off strippers. Wow. That's a pro right there.

No? Not juicy enough? OK, how about Mark Foley. You remember him, surely. Republican Representative, Florida Sixteenth Congressional District. Resigned after trying to solicit sex from male congressional pages via an instant messenger program, which went on for ten years. The conversations included his asking a sixteen-year-old "stud" whether his penis was erect and requesting that he take out and measure his penis. I wonder if he took a picture and sent it via a MMS? The cover-up involved Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner, Ohio Eighth Congressional District and Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Illinois Fourteenth District. Now that's some real professional teamwork hypocrisy, I'm telling ya.

Joe Scarborough, you know him. Former Republican Congressman, is currently a conservative talk show host. He resigned his congressional seat abruptly to spend more time with his family, amidst allegations of an affair with his intern, Lori Klausutis. Soon after he resigned his seat, Lori Klaustis was found dead in Scarborough's office. The medical examiner, who had his license revoked in Missouri for falsifying information in an autopsy report, and suspended in Florida for six years, ruled the case an accident, after giving conflicting information about her injuries. He said he lied about them because "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury." Even Teddy was impressed by that one.

Then of course there's Newt, who got a hummer from a campaign worker while he was married to his first wife. You know the rest. And there's the Jim Bakkers and Ted Haggards, and of course, Senator Larry Craig who solicited sex from an undercover cop in an airport restroom.

Conservatives point to these, and there are many, many more I could cite, and say, "They're not us! Those people are not true conservatives, or nor true Christians, or something else that makes them not us." But the problem is, yes they are. And that's the most hypocritical of all.

So here we have a wiener who texted a wiener, and the Democrats and trying to get it over and done with, and the Republicans are overreacting. And if Wiener was a Republican the Republicans would be trying to get it over and done with and the Democrats would be overreacting.

It was a photograph of his junk in underwear. OMG, the way some of the Republicans are reacting, you'd think it was a photograph of Weiner doing Arnold Schwarzenegger's maid.

The difference between a democrat bum like Weiner and a republican bum is mainly media response.

Because the Dumb-O-Crats tend to admire their scumbags and reelect them decade after decade. Like "Uncle Teddy" "Barney Franks" "Gerry Studds" .

Far too many people are willing to ignore scumbag behavior if that scumbag vote the way they want them too.

I alway post when a Dumb-O-Crat messes up for two reasons. First the media, for the most part tends to "expose" ReBumLiCan" scumbags for longer periods and with greater exuberance than they do the Dumb-O-Crats. Again, just look at "Slick Willy" and "Uncle Teddy". The other reason is just because it is fun to try to offset Witness and his Beck bashing!!:p

I agree with most of the above, but I'll also bet that if someone wanted to research America's sleazy politicians and create a "T" chart comparing numbers of each party they would come out about equal. The reason for this is that when dealing with sexual nonsense from Wiener and the legions of others like him it transcends political parties, geographical regions, etc and delves into the frailties of basic human nature. Too many men and women just can't do the right thing when they THINK nobody's looking. But in these times of the internet there's always somebody looking, and a digital record is created so they can continue looking.

My main problem with Wiener is not so much his tacky pictures, but the way he lied extensively and repeatedly, in public and on the record in a lame attempt to cover his butt - that's the really sleazy part. His constituents should never be able to trust him again - but a lot of them will, regardless.

So what's the worst reaction when getting caught doing the hanky-panky? (A) Hypocritical moral outrage, or (B) So what, who cares, I didn't do it, but maybe I did after all. They both amount to the same thing - a basic lack of integrity and control of primal urges, and it applies equally to both political parties and society as a whole.

I would think that both parties would come out about equal, too. But rightly or wrongly, when conservatives get caught doing these things it's worse, because they actively preach against it on moral grounds.

Well, as worded, (A) would be far worse, as expressing hypocritical moral outrage against yourself at getting caught would be pretty bad. (B) is more or a less a natural reaction when in panic mode - how to quickly fix it or make it go away. Sometimes people don't think clearly when in panic mode. As a result, they can usually look pretty stupid.

But in a clever little twist on (A), remember Helen Chenoweth, Republican Congresswoman from Idaho? (Born-1938, died in a car crash in 2006). Served three terms from 1995 to 2001. In 1995, when asked by a reporter from the Spokane Spokesman-Review, she flatly denied having an affair with a married man. Then in a 1998 campaign ad, she called for Bill Clinton's resignation saying, "I believe that personal conduct and integrity do matter". Less than a week later that same Spokane Spokesman-Review reporter confronted her with irrefutable proof, and she then admitted to a six-year adulterous affair with a married associate. Almost immediately she claimed to have a pardon from a higher authority, stating, "I've asked for God's forgiveness, and I've received it."

That one just begs for a <snort> doesn't it?

Sorry but this is so much non-news it isn't funny. I can't see why it is even in the news other than the right leaning people thinking that it can be used to damage another dem while they themselves are sitting in the quagmire of their party's mess.

This morning as I was listening to Fox news for a moment, I almost ****ed my pants over the term they used "the mainstream media" over and over which got me to thinking that how much in denial can Fox be because they, themselves act just like CNN, MSNBC and the small three (ABC, CBS, and NBC) with their copy cat format - thank God for the BBC.

That's exactly right - the GOP is making the maximum political hay from this because we're entering a presidential campaign season.

Regarding the hypocrisy of the conservative miscreants - the holier-than-thou posturing is offensive even if they don't get caught diddling with their pages. But it's not much different when arrogant jerks like Anthony Weiner and Elliot Spitzer get caught doing the messaround and then lying about it in an obvious coverup effort. But for the most part, the two parties play by two different sets of rules. If the GOP sinners get caught, they get tossed out and their particular problem goes away. The Dems - as in Weiner's case - put on a public display of phony contrition and regret (for getting caught), and they "accept full responsibility", but without suffering any consequences.

The really sad thing is that the American public has become so cynical that that they keep electing pieces of slime like these, having lowered their standards to expect nothing better from their public servants.
