Right now I have been using TA, Pilot or free to access internet. Can those with wifi cards give their opinion of which they like and why. Currently have 2 cell services Nextel and Cingular, so either of those would be my preference. I noticed prices are about same, more interested in coverage issues and speed. Thanks.

Tmbm: I don't use a card, guess it's internal in my laptop, which is 1 1/2 yrs old - maybe you don't need one either. What I use for Wifi is ATT, which is partnered with Cingular, and I originally paid $20 a month for one year - now it is just $2 a month. Where I get online is most often McDonald's, but Barnes & Noble and UPS Stores are also hotspots. The signal is nearly always good enough to pick up in the parking lot, and the part I like best, besides the price, is the 800 number that's answered 24/7 by a person - wow! They can tell you where the hotspots are in whatever city you're in, or help if you have any problems connecting. Most of the time the speed is acceptable, even for me, and I have ADD, which means I don't like waiting for the bleepin computer to DO something, lol.
If you're in a bigger truck, some places may be hard for you to get into, but in a cargo van, I think ATT is the best deal out there.

A couple of my favorite free wi-fi places are Panera bread, inside or outside and any Holiday Inn or fairfield Inn parking lot.

The problem with Verizon is that their terms of service specifically states that I cannot do precisely what I want to use the Internet for, which is constant, sustained downloads of gigs and gigs of data, like movies and software DVD's, streaming video, stuff like that.
The want you to check e-mail, surf the Web a little bit, but that's about it. They boast about their high speed connection, but then whine when you actually put it to good use. :+

I have a Sprint card as Nextel isn't selling cards anymore and you get reduced cost per mo. by being Nextel customer. Used to run with a carrier that sent my loads offers as an attachment to e-mail to the laptop in the truck, so was online 24-7. Speed in all areas is real good, even better near cities with Broadband coverage. Coverage is good anywhere there is cell service, even can be online in a lot of areas where my cell phones don't work.
