In all my years of running, I've had two "run-ins" with Walmart. Both were filthy California border stores, one in Santa Ana, the other in Calexico. I do spend a lot of money in Walmart since I shop there often and almost always spend decent money when laying over. (I estimate I spend between 300-500 on an average month between food, supplies, pet food, and my team driver spent almost the same). Anyway, in Santa Ana last year the night before Christmas Eve, I went to the store at approx. 1900hrs. I see, a sign by Santa Clara City going in, that says No Overnight Truck Parking, (fine with me I had just finished a delivery there and was heading to Ontario, when I decided to buy some last minute gifts for the family, although I would love to see Santa Clara deliveries boycotted...but anyway), I park in the far reaches of a dirty parking lot, (to be fair they probably had been slammed by the holiday), and after shutting things down, and cleaning up for a minute and getting my wallet and hat, I start to exit the truck, when a "security guard" rolls up, yellow light flashing, to my door and starts berating me IN BROKEN FRIGGIN ENGLISH/SPANISH about me not being able to park there after 12:00 AM Midnight. Yelling at me nasty like I'm a kid. (I'm in my mid 40s). His age prevented really from really losing it there. I told him it would be a good idea to get away from my truck, I am a customer, and asked him if he realized it was 7PM. (I wasn't that nice, I used some choice words.). I keep every Walmart receipt, because they are decent about returns. I gathered them all up from the past 6 months, (over 2000 dollars) went in and had a talk with the manager, showed him all my receipts, indicated I would not purchase anything at that store, and was calling corporate in the morning. I asked him why I wasn't allowed to shop at 7PM to buy his chinese crap, since they had let me buy all this other stuff over the last 6 month. (He apologized and blamed the "contracted guard", (who, I'm sure who was not a citizen, so I guess, I have to deal with his native customer service "culture") but I was so ticked off, I just left before I got in trouble. I called corporate in the morning, and they apologized and had that district manager call and apologize and say the guards would be retrained. It's only happened in these two stores, to me, so I accepted the WalMart apology. Later, I'll tell you about Calexico which was worse.
