What a crock, Im gettting tired of reading this crap, from every ambulance chasing law firm looking for the next deep pocket to pick.....there was no place for comments....we should consider these things when involved in an accident, someones looking for a payday...

And I think its sorry when every other commerical on tv is a a lawyer on there about a wreck injury.

Even though sometimes the insurance company needs a wake up call.But I dont even want to get started on that subject.

Actually this is what I and others have talked about for a long time.

I say get over it and do what you need to do to CYA.

Stop and look at how you practice your profession and be more on top of things.

Stop buying into the "must got to get it there" crap and learn how to be in control.

Don't think that an LLC or a corporation is going to save your a**, it won't.

The legal profession only targets groups who are deserving of it, so look around and see what's going on, on the road to understand where the problems are.

This is nothing new. It is not good for the country and there is little we can do about it. The best defense is recording cameras all over the truck. When a car hits a truck it is the trucks fault. When a truck hits a car, it's the trucks fault.

There are MANY lawyers out there who are a couple of cards short from being honest. They 'target' easy prey. Trucks are not 'liked' in general so they are easy to go after. They don't need proof, just a big mouth.

Or others around you?

It isn't as funny as having an accident, knowing other truckers seen what happened and don't step up.

Thier is still "fault"....don't know why they call it that....but when you have an incident....you and your insurance company deal with it....after the investigation a degree of fault will be levied.....say you are 30% at fault..your ins. will pay up to 30% of your costs.....there is no dealing with another insurance carrier....you don't have to worry if the other driver has no or not enough insurance..it is up to you to cover yourself.....

Some provinces have a flat rate system...whip lash is worth so much, a leg injury is worth so much.....no more ambulance chasers

I drive the best that I can. I leave as much space as I can. I drive for the conditions, not the speed limits. I pay attention. I assume, and rightly so, that I am surrounded by idiots.

NOTHING is funny about having an accident. I cannot do anything about other drivers or truckers who don't 'step up'. I can only do the best I can. I pray that no shyster lawyer ever comes after me. I have little doubt that I would be 'thrown to the wind' if that ever happens.

That was a REALLY funny line!

I clicked on the link provided and it lead to a breif FYI type article about seeking legal help after being involved in a crash with a truck. The very general information in this article is just what the wannabe executive type needs to know, just in case. This rag also contained a great piece on choosing the right golf clubs and now I know where I can get some way cool valve stem caps for my Porshe.

Throttle back on the coffee for the rest of the day, I think you are reading too much into this.

Does the word "Outlaw" come to mind?

All posts made valid points. Greg is correct in his thinking. It is easy for a prosecuting attorney to win big bucks in a truck/car accident even when the driver and the trucking company were operating legally. If you only realized what could happen when there are any illegal actions or negligence involved.

I dont drink the coffee but I sure do dislike attorneys, Ive seen several of these articles posted under "Trucking News" on Google, and I try and respond. I am of that opinion that cameras dont lie, and Ive started using my Video camera quite a bit, maybe after Ive recorded a couple hundred hours of road nonsense Ill take it to a video producer and see about am REALITY TV SHOW called CARS and the People that arent driving them !!!!

I actually saw a guy a couple days ago drive across the center median to get to a BBQ restaurant on the other side, down thru the ditch, into the parking lot to be greeted by the cops who sat and watched the entire incident......

I drink coffee and have two good friends that are attorneys. One is a county prosecutor and the other has a small firm specializing in work comp. and related claims. To paint an entire group of professionals as ambulance chasers is similar to labeling all truck drivers as homicidal maniacs at the wheel of 80,000 pound death machines or van owners as perverts. The van thing is probably somewhat true. I think about 70% of van owners are perverts and the rest are plumbers and serial killers.

I hope you can live the rest of your life disliking attorneys. That would indicate you never needed an attorney to defend you, which is a good thing! I purchased the services of an attorney as the result of an out of state car/truck collision. The attorney wasn't an ambulance chaser, I sought him out. I was the truck driver getting hosed by a state trooper and my company. With the photographs I took and the attorney's interview of one witness, the whole case was dropped. Money well spent!

I like that idea! It would be great if a television network filmed some of the stuff we see every day on the road.
