Yesterday I stopped to fuel and get a $50.00 cash advance at the Flying J in Midway,FL. What should have been a quick fuel stop and a simple transaction quickly became a nightmare!
Once I shut the pump off the cashier (a new employee) attached my ticket along with my cash to the receipt hanger at the end of the counter away from the registers. Now none of the truckstops do that when a cash advance is involved. They typically keep the receipt behind the counter until you show up and sign it, only then do they pull the cash from the drawer. Well, not this careless idiot!
Once inside, instead of going directly to the fuel desk I ran back to the R/R, did some quick shopping for drinks etc in their store, and then went to the counter. When I identified myself fully expecting the cashier to pull my receipt off the printer or back counter. Noooo, instead she goes and pulls it off of the hanger and proceeds to inform me that my cash advance went missing!. Now several drivers had already been in and out to get their receipts and any one of them could have easily taken my cash without being noticed.
Next I was detained while they "had to figure out who took the cash", like whomever did that it is really going to admit they stole it. At first I was patient but after what should have been a twenty minute fuel stop turning into over an hour and still no resolution, oh I did get all but accussed of stealing my own money on three different occassions during this ordeal. After the third time of that I blew and let them and every customer in the place know what I thought of how I was being treated. After that I think they wanted nothing more than to get me out of there quickly with my $50.
Way to go Flying J Midway,FL! They had a chance to get a lot of my business but they BLEEEEEW IT!!! You don't treat you customers this way, nor do you handle their money as carelessly as that! Oh, I guess I expect to much out of some minimum wage employees, or do I?
TA is just a bit down the road and all of my business will go there!
