Hate it, really. But, he probably got fed up having to pick up the trash and pee bottles thrown out. And, tired of having his curbs, sidewalks, grass and bushes run over by big trucks!!

A couple of years ago that happened to me in Tn. I gassed up at station in their yard and parked and the man in a white shirt and tye told me to leave. He pointed to two pee bottles sitting on the curb next to where the trucks park and said no more. I told him I understood and went to a motel.

He has every right to make you leave unfortunately. If each of those drivers went in and got a few things big deal because at the end of the day they still have a mess left from the drivers the night before. They arent worried about the money because then they have to pay someone to sweep and pressure wash the **** smell from the lots. And they do! I used to work at wal-mart.

Realistically, that store probably won't lose much revenue from rousing the trucks from the lot. Probably will gain some customers by losing the reputation/perception that the store is a truck stop. I can understand the managers desire to not have trucks there.

When I drove past there this morning and saw the way all trucks were parked, I just shook my head. I would have asked everyone to leave also. Most of the trucks were parked up front near the entrance and blocking prime parking spots for their customers. Not a good choice by those who parked where they did. Not to mention 3 truck stops within 12 miles of that Walmart.

We always try to practice the out of sight out of mind theory when parking at places other than truck stops

Or at least park far enough, waaay out in the parking lot, so far out that both you and the manager need the Hubbel Space Telescope and the Google Earth Satelite to see each other. Also, it dosen't take long to walk in the store and ask " May I park out there for a few hours, I need to take a break." If you arent blocking needed spots, you have actualy purchased a few things, and you dont give the impression that your going to trash the parking lot it usualy will work. I have had good luck doing this so far and not only at Walmart.

I am glad I'm not driving a truck right now. It doesn't matter how clean some of you driver are when you are parked at Wal-Mart. It seems like the entire country is getting more hostile towards trucks. The trucks keep America moving and the people want the drivers to live in the shadows of our society. It makes me sick to see drivers run off like this. I don't know how you can just shut down after 11 hours of driving with all of the hostile places to park and the new hours of service. No wonder drivers are so angry all of the time because no one truly appreciates what they do. Well I appreciate what all of you do and if I ever acquire Wal-Mart through corporate aquisition I will ban the four wheelers from parking in the lot but welcome all of the truckers! It will look like the set of pirates of the Caribbian only without Johnny Dept.

Was this on the OVM's list of approved Wal-Marts?....

Unfortunately, drivers have no one to blame but themselves. Not all, but a few...

Dang, Blizzard, I was applauding & cheering, right up to the last couple words, lol.
I'm in the middle of Chicago [I HATE Chicago!] at a Home Depot, waaaay out, far as I can get from the store. And real close to a fence, on the other side of which are a couple peach trees.....Reminds me of the truckstop in Indiana that backs up to a cornfield: temptation! And totally off limits, sigh.
Just remember that it isn't always the 'jerk' manager, sometimes the local ordinances forbid overnight parking.
And sometimes, the 'jerk' drivers that Shadow mentioned have a lot to do with it, too.....

The fact of the matter is you should appreciate walmart letting you park there so much you dont leave **** behind. But when you have the mentality that you are just gonna dump your pee bottles because you dont want them where you work they tend to not appreciate us.

So instead we get run off? Yes now elaborate on how we are being tucked away behind society for the hell of it please.

I used to drive a big truck and no one has respect for the truckers. Have you ever had to back into a loading dock in Yonkers New York where there is traffic blocked on both sides of you and the people in their cars are eyeing you like they are going to kill ya and honking their horns when you are trying to back up and not destroy stuff. lol. You make deliveries to some places and they don't even want you parking in their lot afterwards. The road is a very hostile place for truck drivers not to include scale houses and cops who harass you just for doing your job. I have been driving since 2001 and I have seen it all.

I've been asked to leave a whole bunch of places, but the only one that ticketed me instead was in my [ex] home town: Brook Park, Ohio.
If you're tempted by the big empty shopping center lot just a half mile east of the Ford plant [on Snow Rd @ Smith], keep driving east, another mile. The lot on Chevy Blvd @ Snow is cool: a Dollar Store and 24 hr laundry, too.

Yep I have done roadside deliveries in manhattan with a tractor trailer. That is imho a northerner thing you refer to. I have also had to stay on property where I have picked up or delivered for a bit. Most of the time it is all in how you ask and how you act when either loading/unloading.

And I have had customers tell me they have let people park there but they were seen on camera relieving themselves beside the truck.

Gotta agree with the last few posters as they say it only takes a few to ruin it for all. Can't say I blame the business owners and managers they want to stay in business. And the total douches that don't bother using the aproved toilet or trash can theyre customers dont want to walk through the mess.
As for local ordnances, and Im sure Ill urinate someone off by saying this. How can we expect the no truck parking ordanances to change or expect additional safe truck parking to happen if our industry refuses to weed the garden. I will and have called in a couple drivers who think the world is thier urinal, toilett or trash can.

I am pretty sure the biggest reason for refusing truck parking isn't the trash [4 wheelers do a pretty good job of that, too] but the weight: the front parking lot isn't spec'd to handle t/ts. And as we all know, one parked truck attracts others, too.
Also, it's a matter of damage to poles, signs, etc.
And Bob? Safe parking should not be restricted because some truckers are trashy. If the government requires us to park, they ought to ensure that we can, IMO.

I agree that safe truck parking should not be restricted and its expansion is way long overdue I guess I was trying to say that we need to get rid of the nasty drivers so the immage of the truck driver is shown for what it realy is.

We all know how we are portrayed especialy by the media as low life, drug addicted, drunkards, that cant hold down a job, are in and out of prison, and get our jollys off from causing wrecks.
that dosent help to persuade the local home and property owners to allow a rest area to be built.

Unfortunately they realy cant regulate away stupid I hope other carriers and trucking companies step up to the plate soon.
