Vision Quest 11

To all of you out there I have driven for one year so call me a rookie if you wish, This rookie came to may I say our Federation and took The Coveted 4 Star Award by Storm the first Year. Something that I was told couldn't be done and was impossible to do. not just doing so during the first year but 10 months time frame to boot. Long story short 12 months with FedEX 10 Months driving the Truck that won. (Done it in the 1st year time frame after retiring from the service)

Now FedEX to me Is a Wonderful COMPANY and GOD Bless it, and all the people that work there as well as behind the scenes.

For all of you out there if I see ya out on the road god bless ya.

For any of you non belivers If you want the 4 Star award try to take every load they give you. I know that there are some loads that will be impossible or may not be $$ but the shorts will get you to the big ones or move you to a better area. Think about it and You will have to agree Im right. How Ever I even know that there are times you got to stay No but the Key goal is to stay loaded and moving. One thing with me Is I hate sitting, Lord knows the Dispatchers and The C.C. at FedEX know this for a fact. Word of the Day is Stay Loaded and Stay In Service and be Safe as Safety is Paramaont.

Everyone makes mistakes and accidents are bound to happen that is a given. No one is Perfect. Just do the best you can. Don't worry about what the bitter hearts are going to say, Be your own Person, Gather information and put it to use and most of all follow your own gut feeling and in the long run you will come out ahead. Just remember weigh the differences. I'M sure you all know what I'm saying.

What was stated at the awards "everyone in one way or another is a 4 Star, We are all doing the same job out here. Serving the Customer The Purple Promise.

As the saying goes the Navy get the Gravy and the Army gets the Beans.

Well My respones to that is Yes it's True there are those in the Business that always get the more lukertive runs all the time yes it's True. Better Equipment Better Loads, Fare Yes, In a certain point of view. True yes. The Point is when those people rube it in your face about it, Of which my Friends has been done countless times to me personaly just turn the other cheek and know that your doing the best you can. The only other option you have is to go where the money is in the business, if that calls for switching whom your working for (Fleet Owners) then by all means do it. Put your cards on the table and call. Now What I have learned in this business is the more flags the Truck has and the more Qualifications you have the better runs you will get. Thats a fact. The more Flags/Equipment the truck has and the more qualification you have the more money your going to make.

Plain and Simple in Latins terms "The Higher End Equipment you have the more chances you have in making the Big Money.

When I started In this business I Started with a Person That was considered an OLD ONE, For those of you out there that know then you know what Im talking about. Wayne Jirsa Taught me the Business, he was an Outstanding Trainer in the short time I worked for him, and even now from time to time he sends me e-mail and I too him and thus to prove a point even though we had our differences in opinion,: As business is business! A friendship still exists. Word to the Wise don't burn no Bridges) So Wayne Jirsa my hat is off to you and I say thank you.
God Bless you and your family Wayne
If your read this give me a call or drop me an e-mail.

The above don't burn your bridges is a hint not only to the drivers out here in the business but this can be a lesson for all you Fleet Owners as well and if you think about it for a click or two you know I'M right. (Dont put your Pride and EGO ahead of whats right as many do.) (It would be like taken a MD Truck to CA then leaven the key under the mat because you quit your job with that said fleet owner. Nope take it back and turn it in. Do the right thing and the right things will come your way do the wrong thing then all bad things will happen to you two fold.) Think about it its true.

As I stated the Rig I drive is no Flag ship but I Scouted researched and came up with a plan and set it in motion and prevailed. I may have asked a thousand quetions to get the information I wanted but no question is a dum question if you learn from it.

Promises were made before 4 Star and then they were change soon as The Award was list was anounced.

Well like I said do wrong and things happen two fold back and not always good. The only way to change it is to make that of which was wrong and make it right. Fullfill your obligations. There are those that will only begin to realize it when its all but too late.

Not being an owner operator and just a driver (Wheel Turner) if you will has its Advantages and disadvantages. (IE Money pay 20% after the fuel surchage is deducted along with the tolls.) Hmm and If your not driving a Flag ship for a BIG RIG well then You get the Picture. The plus side is you can alaways move up. :)

Plans make the BIG RIG a Flag Ship. (Crawl before ya walk so to speak) I think I had already been Running dont you. Now time to Re-group and put vision 11 in motion.

Things Happen for a reason, Yup and Frank Geijda a good friend and partner before he moved up to the next level will vouch for this whole heartledy. Each day we were partners was astounding as the guy made me laugh every day till I was rolling on the floor. He was a good friend and Partner (CO Driver) We talk every day and keep in touch. God Bless You Frank and Your wonderful family. I just want to also tell you thank you for being my partner before you moved on to better things in life and again Thank you for The vast wisdom and things you passed on to me.

2006 was my year to shine and I did, along with 49 others as well.
I have my sights set on 2008 Then I will once again rise to the occasion and be part of the Elite of Fedex.

Your probabling wondering why 2008 well as I stated The Rig I Drive now is not a Flag ship, But I hope to make it happen as my sightes are set in that Direction. AS I stated Early on here I leave my options open.

I have the following e-mail address
My Road E-mail Address is:
[email protected]
My road E-mil I use each day due to Im never home, Got to stay out to support the family. :)

My Home E-mail Address is:

God Bless All of Ya Truck Drivers out there and God Bless All the Wonderful People at FEDEX As well.

I wonder what I am going to say to the Press Retired Navy S During first year of Retirement Takes Coveted FedEX 4-Star award 1st year driving for the CO. how did he do it. Believe me it will blow your mind away.

Remember:

MY options are alaways open.

On the Test Pad

Have a Safe One
God Bless ya

Kevin you have been at FedEx over a Year. You didn't win it in your 1st year at FedEx because you started out at FedEx for Wayne Jirsa almost 2 years ago (it will be 2 years in June). My wife Bought the CR unit from Wayne over 14 months ago that you drove in with Tony 3 months before she bought it.

Not saying that it wasn't a nice job, but please Don't post on here like your Super Expediter when their are many great folks on here that your post may have upset. Getting an award because you did more runs than someone doesn't make you better than them. There is alot of good folks that are Four Star winner's but they didn't do as many loads as you to be in the top 50 trucks. They may have been in service more than you and had better numbers than you, but they didn't do as many loads as you maybe because where they lived.

4-stars thats great I would pat you on your back but your own hands are in the way!!! If you ever go home make sure to show your kids and your wife that award, but show them your id first so they will let you in. good job, just playing with you.I wish I had four stars, then I could sit with the other super truckers at the truck stops and tell them all about it. good luck and remember lets all be safe out there jim;-)

I bow to your smug wisdom, vanman ;) You'd think he put the sham in the shamalamadingdong. :7

Good points about not burning bridges. Keep your contacts, even if things go sour.

Rewards don't put food on the table. Not many will agree with you about taking unprofitable runs, as rewards don't put food on the table. There... I said it again ;)

Marvin, pride and ambition are good attributes but humility is also called for on occasion. Winning 4 star is commendable but as Dave said there are over 300 drivers that also qualified for 4 star but just didn't have enough runs to make the final cut. In fact I know that several winners were regional drivers that only do short runs almost every day. Does that make them better then the teams that are knocking off thousands of miles every week on just a couple runs. I don't think so.

As far as the award gettin ya a cup of coffee. At least when you win yer 6th award you get 6 months of free C-link. And, if by some chance I go for my 7th year next year it jumps up to 7 months.

But as others have said, you can't run yer business going for that award. I just let the chips fall where they may.

Can't you guys just put the little sticker on your truck and be happy with that? Just seems to me that there's way too much tooting your own horn going on here.

I qualified too but didn't win.

If I would have won, I would not be able to enjoy a thing. There are limitations I have that would prevent me from taking a trip or what ever. What I would like to see is equipment offered as a prize as a thought.

Truthfully, since the CC change in March, I don't see any chance of ever achieving another qualification let alone another bond. I am just getting back on my feet.

I wondered why there were two or three posts about this subject.

For your information I worked for Wayne from June 8th 2005 till July 29th 2005.
Before that my Friend I was In Truck Driving school while on Terminal leave as I retired from the service. (April-May 2005)
HMM some body must have lied to you or you surely got Altimers
get some Ginko Balboa and you will be ok.

Then I was in the Truck Im in now on 1AUG 2005. Your dates are way outa wack. By the way. I was in the ER unite with Wayne the Whole month of June, then after a team wrecked the CR I went to that Truck and Drove it for him from 12-29th of July for your information.
Also I had Tony Amato For only 2 weeks as a CO Driver. Then I took the Truck Back to Wayne. Now Next time maybe sir you will have your information straight. By the way Your CR had a shaft seal leak in the reefer unite and it was also in dier need of a new condensor.
the Truck Pro heat didnt keep the truck cool and also needed attention.
next time you like to spout off may be you should get your facts straight. Vice trying to make some one out a fool now who is the the fool I believe you have the EGG all over your face. Have a nice day
here Wipe Wipe yup now your ok. :)

I hope this helps you and have a safe one.

You said that you won the award in just ten months at FedEx. Looks like to me you need to learn how to add. You have been on with FedEx since June of 2005. That's a year in my book since the Four Star goes from June 1st to May 31 of the next year. Don't post on here that your good Friends with Wayne Jirsa when your not. I talk to Wayne all the time. And As far trying to put Down the truck that was bought from Wayne Jirsa it's a great truck and runs Great "ok" since that is your best post on EO.

I don't have to make you look like a fool, you doing a good job of it on your own. "ok" You come on here at try to Rub it in the face's of all the folks on here that you won this Award like you are the best driver out here. If that is the Case then why are you looking for a job now.

You know folks, I have read many, many different excuses why many people were not able to excell, or, for that matter merely succeed. Now, one poster is even adding another crutch that justifies mediocrity. "Because of where they lived"???? It is certainly common knowledge that if it is not a "freight lane" don't go there, or, be prepared to take a hit. I figgured I had read it all, but, i'll just wait for the next on now.
