Vans... Gas vs Diesel?

Pro's and con's for both types of van? which did you go with and why?

I'm on my third gasser.

Gas Pros:
Initial cost (new) for a van with a gas engine is at least $4,000 less than a diesel.
Pump price of gasoline is generally less.
No DEF and other failed emission junk.
Engine life about the same.
Lighter weight.
Cheaper to maintain.
Easy cold start.
No need for fuel additives.
Quieter.

Gas Cons:
Reduced fuel mileage.
Doesn't sound manly.

400K miles on my 6.0L Chevy gas engine. Still starts and runs well. Pretty much any decent mechanic can work on these, as they're also used in Chevy trucks. Parts are commonly available too. Can get an oil change wherever is convenient. Takes a lot of stress out of the equation.

With a gas engine you can go to places like costco and Sam's Club to get cheaper gas if you get their membership and the deli food is cheap and fresh.

Costco does sell diesel fuel too fyi.

I'm a Sam's member. Cheap pizza (and other food like salads), good prices on fuel, and because I bought tires there, free rotations for life of the tire. Plus, they're in every sizable city, whereas Costco tends to be in more upscale areas. I don't pickup/drop in those so much. If they did oil changes, I'd be all hooked up.

I love my Ford. 5.4 gasser with 532,000 miles on it, and would never consider a diesel ever again. The gasser is so cheap to maintain and operate...so few worries...especially in the winter...
