I haven't spent any money there in 2 weeks and don't plan on it...BUT, I have and will continue to sleep in their parking lots and use their restrooms..but not their showers...no food or gas..

gonna be tough b/c Pilot has the cheapest gas.

Slowly step away from the truck stop. Pilot is by no means the cheapest fuel. Do some looking at places other than truck stops and you can often save 10 - 20 cents per gallon.

I'm with chef use them like a cheap

Is it boycotting if I didn't use them before? I do make it a point to use the trash cans and parking lot. Definitely not the best price on fuel. I manage to buy about 60% of my fuel at WalMart.

Just wondering if everone that had been loyal Flying J customers for years had quit buying fuel and eats there like me. After about 8 years and aprox $40,000 in fuel later they dont want my business. The way I figure $300-$600/week per van times aprox 2000 vans is about $ 600,000-1.2 mil/week or 32.2-64.4 mil/ year. Seems like a lot of sales to lose over the price of a shower or 2 per van per week.

Yeap and their trash cans right at the doors next to the new Denny's....and if they toss me, then I could normally go across the road to the TA.....

There are three Wal Marts near me. One at 20 miles, 23 miles & one at 40 miles. All have Murphy Gas Stations & all sell Diesel. Generally a penny a gallon less then the local stations. Diesel down here is $2.69 :D or $2.67 @ Wal MArt.

Used to buy the vast majority of gas there for the shower credit. No more. Like others, I'll be happy to use their men's rooms, garbage cans, and parking lots. But that's it.

I'm not a vanner anymore so I won't vote in the poll, but I'll throw in my .02. I have a Tab Bank debit card that I used at the J. Starting the pump with the card, getting cash price, the receipt hanging there to grab was a great way to buy fuel. Now, it seems that will go away and they've cut down the time a shower will last to 5 days. I'm probably going to close the Tab account and stick with TA/Petro most of the time, as I have been doing for about a month now. But, it won't quite be a total boycott. If I go somewhere that I'll need to have a Pilot/J shower, I'll use them.

I'm not really boycotting them, per se, since a boycott is technically when you abstain from or prevent any dealing with someone or some business as means of intimidation or coercion. Like, "Boycott them until they give us back out free showers!" No, that's not what I'm doing. As a result of the blatant, shameless and abject disdain that PilotFlyingJ has shown for me and my consumer dollars, that they don't want any of it, they're not getting it.

A couple of weeks ago I put three gallons of fuel in the van from a Flying J, because that's how much I needed to get to the closest TA that was on my way. If I'm not near a TA or Petro and need fuel, I'll get it, but generally just enough to get me to the next TA/Petro. Sometimes that means a full tank of fuel, and in those cases I look for a Loves, Wilco, Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Walmart, anything other than a PilotFlyingJ. It's like the Detroiter, where it used to be that when you bought any amount of fuel at all you got a $2 shower. They stopped that, and I haven't bought a drop of fuel there since. I'll still park there, tho.

The TA has told me they want my business, and they're walking the walk to get it.

The only real use I have for a Pilot anymore is their fast food restaurants, particularly their Subways, which are open 24 hours, unlike nearly all of the fast food restaurants at the TA.

Also, off-topic but hopefully useful information....

The TA announced last week that they are honoring the AAA membership card for 10% off on food purchases in the sit-down and fast food restaurants. The announcement said at "participating" locations, so there might be a handful of locations that don't honor it, but it shouldn't be very many.

Also, the TA in Nashville (the flooded one by the football stadium) should be rebuilt and reopened by the end of the year.
