What does the number of posts a person has have to do with their knowledge in the industry? If someone makes an inaccurate statement just polity post a correction.

and here is the search criteria. "van or truck" then do "truck or van" Use the quote marks. Here's another one. Go to advanced search and search--truck+van--in the newbies forum.

I thought of a neat forum feature. When someone with fewer than ten posts posts a faq, they are automatically locked out and forwarded to the faq and search sections.

Come on guys, be nice. Explain to the newbie how to do it.

If you want to drive for a fleet owner, you will make ZERO money if driving a cargo van, since cargo van revenue is small to begin with, and once you split that with an owner you'll be wondering why you ever got out of that big truck.

Well that could be an exaggeration. You sure will not get rich but everyone is different and has different needs. For some that drive for an owner at the right carrier works just fine. I say this from personal experience and also know people who drove for themselves and went broke and had vans repossessed/filed bankruptcy. They now drive for others and are very happy not to deal with the stress of ownership. Would a person who owned their own vehicle on with the carrier that fit them and made the right business decisions make more? I have no doubt they would but that does not mean for some people driving for an owner works just fine.

Lots of opinions on how to make the most money in expedite. If your going to work for someone else, there isn't enough revenue in a van to split it with another person.although in most cases you won't have to log in a van.
Between all the expedite companies, there are more straight trucks than enough loads for all the straight trucks that are out here.
The most lucritive is in a tractor trailer, most of the companies that have tractor trailers, don't have enough equipment to cover all their loads.
Now, lets talk solo or team.Team is your best bet,as with the HOS,It's difficult to stay loaded in the expedite business.
Most of the loads are straight thru delivery, you'll be running out of the 14 hour clock that will stop you from receiving many loads.Lot of companies don't like to relay thier loads. With most the companies going to paperless logs, the EBOR will keep you on t he side lines. If you look at the truck load carrier ads, they are going to more teams just for that reason.
Good luck,welcome to EO

Number of posts has more to do with how familiar someone is with using the forum. Yeah, I may sound a bit cranky, but I'm really just brainstorming ways to get people to use the faq's and search.

I understand that but you also want the forum to be open to as many people as possible and user friendly. The more roadblocks you put in a persons path the less people will use it, the less revenue EO generates which leads to them being able to provide fewer services to their members. Fewer services leads right back to a repeat of the above sentence. It is very easy for us as we have been here longer and longer or are used to other forums to forget what it is like for the new person who may never have posted in their lives. It can be a major step for someone and for some even stressful. I think we need to keep that as simple as possible.

Which is the main reason I put together the "How to Start Using the Forum" post that is in the Newbies FAQ section.
