UPS Expedite scaling back already ?

Thank you for your interest in UPS Expedite. Currently, we are scaling back our recruiting of new owner operators. This is not to say that in certain situations, we are not looking to hire drivers, but due to the overwhelming response on the Expeditors online ad, we need to process the 20-30 drivers that we have pending! Please feel free to check back with us in the next 60-90 days, chances are we will be looking for drivers in specific areas of the country. Also, check in the Expeditors online forum, I’m always in there, and will periodically post specific areas we are looking for specific trucks. My board name is jbrbears, and I am the primary recruiter. Again, thank you for your interest in UPS Expedite, and happy trucking!

Wow,they just came on this site,and they are scaling back already ? From what I read in past posts,they don't pay that well.Oh,well !

At least they're being up front that they had more response than they anticipated. If they wanted, say 50 new trucks right now, and had 300 applicants, there's no reason to continue recruiting full bore.

Just sounds to me like they don't want to over hire for the business they have right now, and they have lots of drivers looking for that greener grass!

Boy, you guys are tuff...;) we are trying to be very careful and strategic about WHO we hire as well as the quantity. Those of you who have managed to speak to me on the phone understands exactly what we are trying to do, and I have taken it upon myself to send out as many emails (the one "quoted" in the first post) as possible as a courtesy to those of you who did apply. So far, I've gotten only one "derogatory" response, stating that He got hired by fed ex, and that He didn't need my low paying job. most everybody else has been appreciative. peace

After speaking with JBRS bear about 10 days ago I have to say what he is posting today is basically what he told me, I had a very nice 10-15 minute conversation with him and he seemed very straight forward and honest that he was not looking for the services my company had to offer AT THIS TIME, I think some where down the line we will talk again as the need for more trucks in my area of NYC increases.

I have had the opportunity to have a lengthy phone conversation with jbrbears. I can tell you he seems to be very honest and up front. My conversation with jbrbears was very informative.
It appears that UPS has a lot of opportunity in different areas of expediting. To those who say they are not paying well, may just be a uneducated assumption? What I am saying is this, I believe you really have to be educated in everything UPS has to offer and tie them all together to gain a full understanding of potential income.
Jbrbears has very active here and has answered a lot of questions
and should be thanked.
