Understanding earnings

On the Tri=State web site it suggests these estimated earnings;

DOCK HIGH STRAIGHT TRUCK
SINGLE - $1,800 - $2,600/WK
TEAM - $3,500 - $4,500/WK
65% OF GROSS RATE BILLED TO CUSTOMER
SOME MINIMUMS APPLY
FUEL SURCHARGE AVERAGE= ADDITIONAL $.20-$.30 CPM

I know what ‘estimate’ means but what I need to know is that an estimate after costs?

It also says;

THESE ARE AVERAGE ESTIMATED EARNING POTENTIAL FIGURES THAT ARE CALCULATED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR. AVERAGES ARE ALSO CALCULATED BY VEHICLES IN SERVICE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK

I understand that they mean that earnings vary by business cycle and this year is impossible to predict. But, when they say ‘CALCULATED BY VEHICLES IN SERVICE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK
‘ do they mean 365 days?

Those estimated earning potentials are gross, you can deduct your expenses from them.
And they would estimate the potential based on being in service all the time, since they have no idea how many days off one might take.
Sorry, I just realized this was in the 'Ask a Recruiter' Forum, and I'm not a recruiter.
Do your homework, and their won't be any surprises. Good start.

Pjjjj;

No problem that you are not a recruiter, you did an excellent job of responding to the person's question.

To take the answer a step further, keep in mind that limitations that you, an independent contractor (Owner-operator) place onto to the company will also limit revenue or income. I always smile when a recuiting call comes in and the first question from the caller is "I have a "D" unit, how many miles a week am I going to get?" or "How much money am I going to make a week?". If this were "Truckload, dedicated freight" I could, and would, give that caller the honest answer. I would know exactly what that truck would do each week as far as revenue and miles.

Being that we are in the specialty niche of Expediting, which involves moving time sensitive freight, that also commands a "Premium" price to the shipper, we really have no means of giving actual numbers. We can only give "averages". These averages are usually given for say a year's worth of running, and should not be used to "micro manage" on a week by week basis.

I've been looking for threads on how to decipher ads, without much luck. So here's my chance.

Does the line "65 % ..." mean that the weekly average comes from 65% of whatever the amount that is billed to the customer?

What does "some minimums apply" mean?

Is the fuel surcharge in addition to or is a part of the weekly averages?
