TT vs D unit

Question.....

Which would pay more:
Driving a TT (general freight)as a newbie= $30,000.00 1st year gross OR
Driving a "D" unit(solo) for an Expedite owner. Would that generate the same, not as much, or more income? I'm aware of the general variables in the industry that can affect revenue. Let's say out 3-6 weeks each time.

???????

I don’t think you can get an accurate answer, but may get a lot of opinions from others. The driver and the drivers style have a lot to do with it. Why not try and find an owner of an E unit to lease on with. There are E owners just like there are D owners. E trucks get more loads by far.

As a driver of an E-unit, i do more than 30,000 a year as a single. But the way to go would be find a single owner in your area to run team with. Team is always the way to go in expedite.:)

In my humble opinion, if solo is your only choice I agree w/Teacel. E's will get more freight at generally a higher rate. But it does normally cost more to operate an E vs. a D unit. If you're considering a team operation: Teams do get the longer runs but in this economy unless the imcome is coming into the same household(husband/wife) I'd have to say it is very questionable whether or not you will make more as a team splitting the income. Just as Teacel stated, it's a hard ? to get a clear answer, due to the numerous variables involved. Just because you're a Team operation does not guarantee that after costs and the income is split you will make more than a solo owner or driver.;-)

I went back and checked out your profile and re-read your question. I felt that I had to come back and make one last comment. You will make more $ driving TT as a company driver for a large freight company and get home more often especially considering where you live.

Thanks for the input! I am leaning heavily toward going trucking for a couple years or so and THEN maybe get into expediting.
